How did you come to the low/high nvh ratings? I saw that you depended on data from owners online, is that your primary source?

Spoon is a mount SET as far as I know so doe'nt count. Also Hardrace I have never seen anyone buy it. I kinda did the ones people discuss a lot. I can look into it though no problem. thank you

I have the Wunderland Race version on my car now. I actually made that mistake I will fix it I agree after the reviews. I meant to put med-high for race and Low for street. I did this blog with the flu lol Appreciate you guys giving me real feedback. I dont know everything

VERY TRUE!! Thank you for that! Very budget freindly I just avoided that due to the chance of user error doing that. Filling it will definitely stiffen things up but you’ve got to use the right durometer material. If you go too hard or overfill it you’ll introduce extra NVH. Once it’s filled, expect a 24–48 hour cure time. Nobody that owns this car seems to have patience lol

I have looked at this on SpoonUSA and am wondering why it is a set. I don't see Spoon selling just the rear motor mount separately.
I'm a total car custom boomer noob, so I don't even know what those other parts even are (???).

The SpoonUSA website does not have very descriptive "descriptions", of many of its Spoon parts, especially for noobs like me who have no clue what these parts are or how they work.

Any insight?

Totally get what you mean — SpoonUSA doesn’t exactly write the most newbie-friendly descriptions lol. And trust me you’re not a boomer noob at all. Half the stuff on their site looks like here’s a $500 part good luck figuring out what it does we are SPOON lol doesntappear they update their site a lot.


So here’s the deal: Spoon only sells the rear motor mount as a set in the U.S. They don’t offer the rear mount by itself through SpoonUSA. They bundle the rear mount + the two engine mount inserts together because that’s their complete “engine mount upgrade package.” All three pieces work together to reduce engine movement, clean up shifting, and make the car feel more planted.I honestly have not seen anybody with Spoon mounts.


And yeah I love Spoon too. My FL5 basically looks like a Spoon demo car at this point, so I get the addiction. But let’s be real: Spoon is absolutely going after the U.S. market with these bundles. The U.S. tuning scene isn’t huge compared to Japan, so they push full kits instead of singles because it just makes more business sense for them. Plus everybody buys from over seas anyway so why should they stock US stores?


Quick breakdown of what the parts even are:

• Rear motor mount: The big main mount that stops the engine from rocking back and forth under load. totally changes the feel of the car and its the best mod you can do and cheap. Dont really need the full set tbh unless your ont he track and high hp.
• Side mount inserts: These just stiffen your existing mounts — they don’t replace anything, they just reinforce the stock ones so everything works together better.

If Spoon ever decides to sell the rear mount alone through SpoonUSA, I’ll update the blog. But for now, the set is the only U.S. option and not worth writing about

Polyurethane = performance.

• Want comfort? EPDM.
• Want tight/sharp feel? Poly.
• Want both? …good luck, pick your poison lol.

Spoon sells it as a set because they can make each mount individually softer than a single rear mount but still offer less engine movement and NVH than a single mount would otherwise cause. They also do it that way because it fits with their "complete" tuning philosophy. The Spoon mount kit is also less likely to raise eyebrows at a dealership because the body of the mount looks very similar to the OE mount.

If you want only the Spoon rear mount you have to buy the Hardrace rear mount. Hardrace is the OEM supplier for both J's Racing and Spoon when it comes to motor mounts. Hardrace almost never has the individual mount in stock though.

What about durability?

I recall reading somewhere that Poly is no as durable as EPDM, and that Poly starts tighter but degrades quicker

I believe that because of that, at least one brand offers replacement Poly bushings

At the time, when I knew less than nothing, that was what made me buy the PRL

Now that I know slightly more, I am questioning my decision…
