As a 992 GT3 owner, I agree that the FL5 has flavors of the GT3. And that was the main reason why I bought it. I wanted a “daily” that scratches the itch when I can’t or when it was not practical to drive the GT3.

However, it is also important to highlight areas where the FL5 also excelled on a daily driving basis…the shifter feel has similar directness, but more buttery, which I prefer in a daily. The steering is still direct, but nowhere as direct and darty compared to the GT3 (which again is a good thing for daily driving).

I can go on more, but the FL5 has some of the essence related to a GT3. Yet, has characteristics that are distinctly FL5 that compliments based on the use case of a hot hatch vs. outright sports / track car.

Overall, I am satisfied driving the FL5. Especially with winter coming, it certainly scratches the itch and not makes me wanting to grab the GT3.

I 100% agree with all of this (especially trying to drive a GT3 in the rain with Cup2's is not fun), however what I would say is the stock GT3 shifter is about as close as you can come to perfect out of the box, and I will always chase the dragon when it comes to that in my other cars. I am gonna probably grab this and go in the lab and see how close I can get to the GT3 feels.

@g0al3d / @PNEUMA - the acuity shifter did pop up on my radar as well. I already think the stock shifter is fantastic, any insights on the additional feel from the acuity shifter? Does it shorten the throws even more and make it more notchy?

From everything i have seen it's just a wholesale improvement and is still as smooth as stock. Also it's almost infinitely adjustable so you can make it EXACTLY how you want it. The manufacturing quality and tolerances are weapons grade good from what i can tell (read used in real race cars). I ordered one today (as well as the throttle pedal spacer which should be awesome as well) so I will try to post back here when i get it all in and setup...I'll give my thoughts comparing it to the GT3.

For me, in my car,
It is much more precise in selecting gears. Any sloppiness in the OEM plastic assembly has been completely removed. It is smooth during the selection with a bit of notch at the intersections of the gate pattern. Adjustability is practically endless. The included (medium) centering spring is a bit more stiff/rigid than OEM. For me this was a 100% worthwhile upgrade. Mine is hidden beneath the stock shift boot, as the shifter is nothing I am interested in looking at.

Wait til you drive an Elantra N and stays with the Type R or even passes it. Not trolling, I have seen it haha.
Does the Elantra N have any Nurburgring times posted? I can’t seem to find any on it.

BLUF: On paper, double wishbone > strut. In the GT4, though, it’s effectively a draw for almost every real-world driver.

I wouldn’t leap to that conclusion (bold section) without firsthand experience near the car’s limits. The GT4 dramatically outperforms what its suspension layout suggests. If you judged it by diagrams alone, you’d expect a double-wishbone car to steamroll it. But Porsche’s tuning, alignment strategy, chassis stiffness, and damper quality elevate the strut far beyond expectations. Porsche simply packages and executes a strut better than almost anyone else.

At true pro-level pace, the strut will become the limiting factor before a well-designed double wishbone system (think Lotus Exige/Emira or C8 Z06). But for 95% of drivers, the GT4’s setup is so good that those limitations never surface.

If you have direct experience that contradicts this, feel free to take it with a grain of salt.

Gt4/Gt3 stock suspension envelope is pretty awesome, I have raced at a reasonable level in SCCA in SOCAL and NORCAL and I can tell you after driving both the GT4 and GT3 that my testicular fortitude gives out way before i am even remotely let down by any suspension shortcomings on those cars stock. If you have the ability to REALLY push the envelope on these cars to the point where the suspension is letting you down i highly suggest you get on BAT buy a Cup car and go kick ass and take names :) ... and good luck (race car at Laguna for ref)
