Hi! My name is Oidus, and I’m from Europe. I currently own two FL5 - long story.
Today I went with one of them to my local Honda dealership for a worm gear recall. I arrived in the morning and spent about four hours there while the whole unit was replaced. Around noon everything was done, hands shaken, car picked up.
On the way home, at about 70 mph, I suddenly felt the steering wheel start to vibrate. I pulled over to check. The left wheel was fine, but the right one — holy crap — the entire rim was scratched and spot-painted in black gloss. My car had been pristine, wheels included. Or at least, it was.
I drove back the thirty miles to the dealership and told the boss that this wasn’t my wheel. He claimed it was and that the damage must have happened during a short test drive. I wasn’t buying it. I called the police immediately. Within two minutes, the dealership instantly offered me a new wheel taken from one of the showroom Type-Rs — no apology, nothing. It felt deliberate, not like an innocent mistake. Car is at the dealership at the moment. Got another one to drive home. Tomorrow afternoon everything is supposed to be fixed - we’ll see. I will post an update.
I hate dealerships. Each one here is bad. Like “please do not wash the car” - car washed. “No test drives” - test drive done and on the invoice. I am losing faith in people. Only reason to be at the dealership is the warranty.
Luckily, I had photos and video from that morning showing my car and wheels in perfect condition. My advice: always take pictures and videos before leaving your car at a dealership. Stay safe.
