Two months after the recall procedure on my car, I've noticed the steering looser and skittish when going around bends or sudden movements, like quick overtaking or lane changong. Like an issue with feedback. Taking a bend spiritedly (but not irresponsibly) the car loses grip and steering gets loose, VSA kicks in and the car hooks again. Almost feels like I'm going to lose control. Anyone else experience something similar?

I've contacted my local dealership. Will be taking it back to them to investigate.
i had a similar experience a couple times with the steering feeling a bit looser (kind of expected though with the greasing/spring replacement) but it seems to have tightened up a bit again. i'm thinking the ECU adjusts the electric assist based on prior driving feedback. i'm sure it's some complicated algorithm that i can't explain though.

Not sure, the letter I got stated 2.5 hrs of work but at the dealership I was told it was slightly over an hour.
Slighly over an hour has to be the easier method.

I have to say my steering wheel is crooked and I could swear it happened after I did the recall. Even though it would not make much sense that it happened during the recall since they literally just open a port and inject grease into it.

I had my steering rack recall done a month ago (by Germain Honda, Surprise, AZ) and the car was ready in less than 40 minutes. I declined the free inspection and carwash. No issues.

Mine has been problem-free since the recall. No "stickiness" and feels fine driving hard or slow.

Same here. It was on my wife's 2024 Civic Touring, but the difference was large, and much better.
My FL5 didn't need the fix.

Picked up the car the other day, apparently it has had the subframe lowered and the solution was to place it again more "carefully". Not sure if the technician was telling me a story to avoid having me blow up or if that is indeed true. When I drive it, I keep trying to find differences on the steering feel, but I think it is perfectly fine and it is all in my head. Hope this helps those awaiting to have the recall done.

So I have noticed for a minute now that my wheel feels harder to turn to the left than the right, its as if to the right is in comfort and left is in sport. I have my suspicion that this happened because of the recall as my wheel is also not centered however I am not sure how adding grease a a new spring would do any of these things.

Anyone notice something like this?

Thanks man. I only hope so. Mine started of feeling great after the recall and a few weeks later is when I started noticing the handling issue because I was before more cautious at first. Honda Dealer did the recall checks again (VSA, Steering sensing etc) and even put in another rack. I'm sceptical about the wheel alignment because the spec seems to be for a normal civic and not the FL5. So I'm going to do it again on my own and then see if it feels any better. I'm rueing going in for the recall. Should have just waited until they called me.

i had to drive on some pretty bad dirt roads (was basically off-roading trying to avoid bottoming out on the craters/mud) and after that the steering seemed to firm back up like it was when new. Seems like it adjusts depending on your driving style. hard to say for sure though.

Did recall at 175xx miles yesterday.

Issues that may or may not be related to recall before
- Clicking from the front left when turning right especially so when hard cornering
- Clicking from the front right only if very hard cornering left when tire squealing or on the verge of
* The clicking noise can only be heard windows down
- Otherwise steering feels consistent in all modes

Post recall
- Steering seems every so slightly "tighter/heavier". Still seems consistent as I ran each steering mode a few minutes at a time at the local mountain pass
- Does not appear to have any more clicking noise when cornering hard. Either has to do with EPS or due to axle nut re-torque

So far so good now at ~176xx

Will get a chance to drive again Thursday and see if anything changes. Is this considered a permanent fix? I am curious if we all did some sort of life shortening of the steering system by driving a duration without this fix.
