I work for a Honda dealership and I got one at 5k over MSRP. The car came in with a rock chip in it so they cut me a deal. To do the warranty work on it, they would have had to wait at least 3 months for Honda to approve the work. They were asking 10k over since I was an employee until they found the damage the following morning. The manager called me in the morning (what a great alarm to wake up to) and came to me with a deal that I could not refuse. Our average market is 12k over in the Eastern Region.

No big deal...I got the rock chip filled up. It's getting PPF done on the whole front end and on all doors with 20% tint as we speak. I am going to apply ceramic coating to the whole car once PPF is done.

Here is a photo of the car after I did all the prepwork for PPF and tint.

Dang, that sucks. I would assume the dealer would atleast give you MSRP since you work there.

Just got a text from an Atlanta dealer for 8k markup. Initially they said I was #6 on the list. So 6 people turned down the 8k. Hold fast my friends! Don’t pay obscene markups. They are coming down.

I’m holding out for 5k or below.
I'm with you, I refuse to pay more than $5K over total which is already $5K too much.

Just last night I walked out of the dealership with my new Boost Blue baby. I managed only a $4k mark-up and no dealer add-ons. It took weeks to get them down from their original 15k mark-up. This was at Freeway Honda of Santa Ana in CA.

Would not recommend working with them unless you're fine dealing with sales staff that talks down to you and a front desk manager that has the nerve to say things like, "If you find one Anywhere close to MSRP, I'll even cosign." Insinuating that just because I look young I couldn't sign on my own. After about a month from initial walk-in, I went back last night to which he quickly changed his tone given the deal I had worked out from their original mark-up, and acted astonished by my credit score and that I very clearly could manage on my own. He also stated, "You got a killer deal. Just make sure you don't go telling anyone else okay."

Anyways, the dealership is out of the picture now and I think I made out like a bandit being in So Cal so I am extremely happy.

Wow good job! I was talking to them for a bit but ended up ignoring their calls and emails because their vibe sucked. That's a great deal for CA (unfortunate though that $4K over is a "great deal") and a good sign for the rest of us.

This may not be the right thread for this...

Out of curiosity, for those of you who financed your Type R purchase, what kind of interest rates did you get with excellent credit (>780)? Did you use a traditional big bank or credit union? Honda Financial Services? If you used HFS, what rate did you get?

Our dealer "got" us 5.5% through Bank of America. Said it was better than the Honda rate. Refi'd with Navy Federal at 4.5%.

just got a call from my dealer that i was up next for their FL5 but I ended up passing due to the color. It is SGP and they're wanting 5k over which in this market is reasonable. God I wish it was champ white

You'll be hard pressed to find better rates for this car than at a credit union. The information shared on rates and term won't be helpful unless the loans were funded in the last few weeks. Rates are moving rapidly and information on a loan that closed in early June won't be a helpful data point.

When a paid price is posted, please let folks know if there was a trade-in and its value. That will greatly impact the ADM and the final price.
Completely agree. Trade-ins typically tilt the deal and not in your favor. I'm not sure that's immediately apparent to many people. The best deals to analyze are the ones with no trade-in.

I got 3.49% for 48 months back in May. However I had a ~60% down payment which i'm not sure if it helped get a good rate

5.49% for 60 months from Honda financial early this month. I did have to show them my pre-approval from my CU and they matched it.

SoulsKind gave me the details and contacts of the folks he worked with at Freeway since I've been shopping for a CW CTR and they happened to have one in stock.

Per his post, they are rather difficult to deal with. They are firm on 10k over for the CW CTR even though SoCal dealers are starting to offering $7500-8000 even with a BB one also selling for $6500 at Lancaster Honda. They told me they had a customer begging them to sell at $8500 daily which kind of blows my mind because I have 2 email quotes for 8k over at other SoCal dealers for CW. Anyways, The SoCal market is starting to soften a bit more. 10k was the going price around March-June. It seems like deals are being had for $7500 in July.
