The BLACK OEM floor mats that wrap up the walls work really well to make the floor mostly black. Then, you can do black seat covers -- which will also protect your seats so they stay like new.

Voila' - there ya go. ;)
Thanks, friend. I’ll check them out.

I can't get with the seat covers, but the OEM Contoured High Wall Carpet Floormats are a nice touch to break up the red. There's far too much red in the interior in my opinion. @Noize Here are a couple photos.

I feel that I’ve avoided disappointment because of the following 3 reasons:

• I was able to get an additional $6k by selling my WRX STI back to Subaru when they had a buy back program going on. So I paid $5k markup, but it didn’t really feel like there was one.

• My STI had a whole lot of paint chips in the front bumper, so I full-front PPF’ed the FL5 and have avoided soooo many chips. I hear all the rock hits when driving on the turnpike smh.

• The switch from an STI to Type R was the best choice I’ve ever made. The STI was a tank and I never modded it due to all the rod knock and warranty decline talks I read about on the forums. This platform welcomes modifications and I’m enjoying adding parts little by little!

The tuxmats really did this for me! Completely hid all the red, as much I I love the red look I have kids so I needed to be sure it was covered.

I own a kid and Tuxmats as well--I highly recommend Tuxmats. I was hesitant to buy them because they don't look like they could be durable (I still can't tell you what they're made of, honestly), but these things are THICK and the FL5's red flooring is the perfect place to see the ridiculous amount of coverage you get. If you use this car on a daily basis and want to keep the carpeting nice, get these mats. Especially if you have kids.

It's a small regret, but I negotiated illuminated door sills into my purchase, and I'll admit that they're a little underwhelming. I came to the FL5 from about 6 weeks in a DE5, and the DE5 illuminated door sills are MUCH flashier (brighter, larger illuminated area, and lighted in front and back).

This is bang on and you're being kind about it. Not sure if you saw the thread where the illuminated door sills were discussed by several members. The quality and aesthetic aren't there. I suggest a hard pass to anyone on the fence. I also commented about the DE5 illuminated door sills compared to the FL5 sills in the review thread I started months ago. If the illuminated door sills for the FL5 were anything like the sills on DE5, they would be a winner.

I didn't see that thread, and I admit I didn't do much additional research when I was (very unexpectedly) invited to the table to negotiate on the FL5. Dang it. I'm cautiously optimistic a '24 or '25 update may bring with it an updated door sill kit using similar styling/tech to the DE5's. Beyond that, there's always hope for the aftermarket and the dealership has already gone to the trouble of running the wiring for me (hooray!).

Not the point of this thread, but I was initially aiming for the OEM pattern projectors, but the dealership suggested they're essentially unavailable... does anyone know anything on that? At least in the stock photos, they look as good/better than the Acura pattern projectors.

Thanks…? Having now seen the ITS illuminated door sill trim, I regret that my FL5 illuminated door sill trim is not what it could’ve/should’ve been.? I still like it…but it is definitely underwhelming in comparison.

Makes sense. Nothing you can do about it now, but here is the thread/posts in question. It starts with Post #265 and the discussion goes on for about a page.

No one makes a comment about this
Pop-Up TOASTER navi-radio screen .....yuk-E
i know many cars in the past couple years are doing this - STOP IT manuf.
it is so aftermarket, cheap-O, tear it off the Dashboard look ......
glad my 2021 lays down along dashboard (wish it were integrated into dash)
- an early POST states "FL5 looks boring" at end of his post (first one to admit it, i agree with him)

I believe these would be better categorized as "gripes" rather than "regrets".

I'll make a comment... i thought it looked tacky and aftermarket ... UNTIL i started using it. It works so well compared to multiple other screens i've tried -- LOVE the heads-up!! so.... there's nothing much for us to say on it. ...except that it can be slooow... like most of them.

One small regret is being so hasty when I found out my Honda dealership had an FL5. I was kind of in disbelief as I had not seen any in my city. I was so amped up and afraid it would slip through my fingers that I really didn't take the time to remove the bolt-ons from my 2.0 Accord like the strut & chassis bars , sway bars , catch can , etc. to put it closer to stock. I could of possibly sold those items.
