Its a bit of a long story, but i will try to summarize. I had originally bought a 2015 STI and had nothing but problems with the car for a year and a half. Eventually Subaru bought the car back from me, and i bough a 2016 WRX (I wanted to try the new motor) so i started to mod that one thinking the FA was safer than the EJ, and started having issues with that one as well (non motor related). Not only that but the interior in subarus isnt exactly amazing; rattles constantly and things feel cheap. So i decided that since i just didnt fall in love with the WRX i would go ahead and go back into an STI, this was after only 4 months. So i got another STI, and left it alone, but never really trusted the motor after the 2015 i had. I slowly started following Type R's as that was what i was originally looking at, so i went and drove one. Thought it was pretty neat but it didnt blow me away, and i wasnt a fan of the styling. kept doing research on the platform and then started looking at the SI. Went and drove that one, felt like it wasnt far off the Type R, but was 20 grand cheaper, and thought hell, i can get 2 cars for the price of an R, have it as fast in no time, and wont feel bad for modding a Type R.
So in short, the STI is a great car, and it feels very Raw, but for 35-40k you have to start the car with a Key, no sunroof, the stereo is absolutely horrid, and it rattles like crazy. Ive been a honda guy since the 90s but i guess i wanted to try something new. I took a 4 year break from honda, and i am glad to be back. Ive build my fair share of hondas over the years. From a Turbo EP3, to a 94 CX with a B18C1. I had an 8th gen FA5 for 6 years that i traded in (like a dipshit) for my first STI. sorry this is the short version too! haha
Wow, thanks for the insight! It's always very interesting to read about peoples' experiences with various platforms. I actually currently drive an FA5 and am looking to get into a 10G Si in the future. This tune will definitely be one of the first mods I do!

As someone who absolutely loves the FA5 and the 8th Gen in general dont be afraid to get the 10th gen SI, its an amazing motor.
I am looking forward to uncorking the new motor with this tune. My 10th gen has 500 miles..... but ive already ordered a bunch of stuff. thats how confident i am with Honda engines. Subaru's in the US, well some people have varying opinions, but i wouldn't get another one. Plus they are everywhere, i rarely see Type R's and Si's. Other than at the dealer, I have seen 2 Type R's in my area, and like 3 Si's and all were bone stock.

Lunch run was a blast! Datalogging as all ways.

67F Ambient, cool & raining....KControl started at 0.68 after this mornings Sports mode pulls. Left Map #3 on & Sport mode Off, interested to see how the VSA works in the rain.

Did some fast paced city driving home using small amounts of boost in just about every gear up until cruise speed into 4th or 5th depending on the road.
Gave it good amount of varying loads, throttle positions, & gearing. KControl ranged from 0.68-0.62 with it dropping mostly even with boost.

Back to work took a faster paced road and very similar driving with a few good pulls through some nice corners. Overall KControl continued to fall even with aggressive/fast paced driving, traffic was moving today. KControl pulling into work was 0.59! And I don't have long stretches too slap it into 6th gear and cruise to get my values to drop. These are real world driving values with Shell 91 V-Power. Things are looking great and I would not be concerned about KControl values, especially if I could get 93 octane!

As far as VSA it's very hard to tell what it's doing. It did kick in trying to accelerate in 2nd & 3rd gear with a wet road but I was not getting it on first gear launches this weekend. So it is on to some extent, just not sure to what degree or if disabling the VSA via the dash button is effectively the pedal dance(would be nice)?!
I still haven't seen a definite answer on what that check box does in KTuner. Looked over the help documents again but didn't see anything mentioning it for this platform.

Be nice to hear from some others with the tune as well!

*Edit* - Also noticed I'm shifting around 6,000 RPM max usually with Map #3, I'm not feeling much between 6,000-6,5000RPM. Kinda the sweet spot but it will pull to 6500 if you need it! Feels quicker to me at 6k shifts as well.

Hey guys!

Just wanted to follow up since I know some of you have wondered.

After almost a week of driving on this tune.. I'm absolutely in love with it. TSP's Stage 1 tune pulls harder, especially in mid to high gears. Such as 3rd, 4th & 5th in comparison to Vit's Stage 1. It's really almost a night and day difference.

The only thing I have noticed that could be a more of a negative thing is that my kcontrol seems to spike while doing 4th gear pulls. (I know this is normal, but it spiked higher than normal) I saw my highest ever of .76 over the weekend when I was running against my friends 2016 Charger R/T.

A few weeks ago when I was doing some pulls with him with Vit's Stage 1 tune, I only saw .56 kcontrol, and that was in hotter weather. Maybe it's a fluke, maybe some bad gas, but I didn't want to push it after that. Normal cruising, or 'spirited' driving tends to yield more normal kcontrol numbers that I'm used to. (.49-.56).

Additionally, my trims have been fantastic. LTFT has been at or very close to ZERO, and my STFT has been between 1%-3%.

Over all, I am very happy with this tune over Vit's Stage 1. The power seems more linear, and pulls all the way to red line. I couldn't be happier!

Once more, your KControl values are perfectly in line with where the file is designed to operate. Knock control is doing what it's supposed to!

Thank goodness! I will note that I'm aware this isn't even close to the realm of "bad", more so just something noteworthy for those interested. Thanks for creating this awesome tune! I can't wait to hurt some more feelings with it.. :headbang:

Mine spiked initially too but is now getting better every time I turn the car on! Had to run an errand real quick and was really beating on it to see what it did after it warmed up......my KControl came down to 0.51

Awesome to hear your comparison to Vit's Stage 1!

Can't wait to see you at the track, guess it will be a drivers race! :)

Have you noticed what the VSA is doing? Still haven't seen an answer.

So is there any point in getting a custom tune from Two Step over this?

Indeed it will be!! :) It will be fun!

You know, honestly I haven't. When I received the tune, I unchecked the VSA box with the mistaken knowledge of it being the one that disables Sport Mode. But it appears that's not the case. I have yet to check the VSA box like it was when I got the tune.

One VSA is checked the other VSA isn't.
What is the difference?

I'm thinking about turning traction control back on.
I think that's why the car feels a little different when pulling out in first.

Yeah it's strange the VSA didnt appear all weekend where it usually would and on launches. Hell of a launch with this map!

Today in the rain it was cutting power & flashing at me the traction light.

So not sure? Really hope the button turns everything off like the pedal dance

Can't get an answer, probably lost in my rambling lol

Pulled (4) 3rd & 4th gear roll on's on the way home and KContol peaked at 0.56!

I'm 99.9% sure Derek mentioned on FB that VSA is only half-way turned off with this tune as if you just pressed the button.
He mentioned that pedal dance is still required to turn it off fully.

I'll take your word for the launching ^_^
