H2R is a fun little trick. Been a member here for a bit. I plan to do ECR in November for Chin. It'll be my first time there.

I'm a member at ECR. Its an absolute blast! I think you'll like it a lot, and also the whole place is super nice including new additions like skip pad, new condos, garages and dirt track/offroad track

Could you share your camera mounting location for this video? I'm looking to do the same.
I've tried a bunch of options but for this I ran a suction mount with a few arm extensions off the passenger rear window and put a zip tie around the headrest for additional support - I'll need to get a picture as it will make more sense. I still don't love it.

How did it all end up? GL is so hard to find results
Well, I got a podium!

11th Gen Honda Civic *The FL5 Track Junkie Thread* 1000022255

I got back home early this morning so I was lazy on the update but there wasn't much time available it seemed yesterday morning - I managed to shave 0.05s but just couldn't get the crispness in enough corners to catch Aaron for the record:

As usual for podium sprints it was hot and conditions sucked so laps were slower - I managed to briefly get within 0.1s of Aaron before finishing 0.2s back. All 3 of my laps were within 0.1s, so can't say I wasn't consistent lol - we ended up finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively (Andy in the Evo was unreachable fast so 1st was never a realistic target).

Here's the time-stamped stream if you are interested, although I'm not really shown in it:

Any major differences between the FK8 And Your setup that you think would make a mechanical difference ?

Thanks man! We had a big field - 17 cars in street, so that was a great result.

Talking with Aaron he actually has a bit more done than anyone else in the class in a Type R as a package at least in terms of top cars. He's running an e85 blend at ~400whp (like me, but unlike Eddy - Eddy's around 360whp on 93), and he has a Giken (plus the RV6 4th although not sure that's meaningful for speed). He's running Redshifts just like me with slightly different rates in the rear but generally not too far off.

One of the other big things is that the FK8s can lose weight a lot easier (Brian my tuner confirmed this too as his wife Corrin's FK8 was 2990lbs with very minimal things) - he's down around 3000lbs (actually just under I believe), which is much lighter than Eddy (Eddy runs a rear cage whereas Aaron does not), and much lighter than me as I was at ~3175lbs for this event. I assumed weighs were closer, so that was a surprise - apparently even though curb weights may be close a lot of the factory parts on the FK8 are just a lot heavier (seats, wheels etc). Maybe this is common knowledge but I wasn't aware.

None of that is to take away from Aaron as he drove very well - he also has been to ABCC before, whereas I have not, which always helps, so all things combined he was going to be touch to catch this weekend.

This was my fastest lap of the weekend despite this really just not being a great lap. This was only my 2nd attempt at a fast lap and this ended up being my best lap just because the track and weather conditions were the best of the weekend.

This car is my daily driver/ development vehicle and this is actually the first time I have tracked this car period. By the end of the weekend I had the balance of the car dialed in, but in 3 or 4 spots of this track that are super low speed I either was blowing the front tires off in 3rd, or if i went to 4th the car was completely dead for a few seconds waiting for the turbo to spool. With a few small changes to the setup and better tires that are more to todays standard, This car could have ran in the 1:30 range for sure. Even the optimal for this subpar session was a 1:31.5. My later laps in the car were much better, but the grip just wasn't there anymore.

Full weight at about 3400 with driver. This car makes 530whp on the highest power setting, this weekend I was running a blend of my low and medium power setup, so Id estimate it was making 420-450whp or so. The car was only 1-2 mph faster on the straights than my customer John's 400whp stock turbo car, but he didn't have to deal with any turbo lag, so I dont think the extra power really helped much on this track.

Pedal dance, or +R Long Press?

Pedal Dance for sure.
I might suggest +R Long Press. You mentioned the tires blowing up in 3rd in that particular section of the track. This wouldn’t have happened in that mode. @J1Avs and me both had the same experience when we experimented with the pedal dance.

could be worth a try. Most of my past experience with the pedal dance comes from some of the FK8's ive had over the years. Every one of those was much slower without doing the pedal dance.

I also could dial in the boost by gear a bit to help. I did this with Johns car and it seemed to help quite a bit. He was putting down the power much better and its easy to compared when we are literally in the same run group at the same time haha.

I think the best overall fix for me would be to just get off of these tires though. This would help every issue the car has haha.

I saw you had mentioned this before which is interesting as I tried +R long press before and didn't notice any useful changes. I've gotten pretty good about managing the throttle and with JST's tune updates for torque reduction in lower gears I really don't have an issue, but I may have to try it again (obviously I don't have the same spool characteristics as JST).

It definitely sounds like he is packing a lot of power!

Are you running 285s up front and 255s rear? Do you think RE71RS are that much better than the 660s?

71RS are tremendously better in every aspect over a 660

For AutoX, +R and long press. Pedal dance just lights the tires up.

For track with stock shocks, pedal dance was better for me. Others seemed to like +R and long press. The shocks were just over dampened for my liking.

With coilovers and cancelers, I'm eager to see which is better.
