The OEM pads cleaned them out in a few weeks.

not only you, I have been complaining about the R5 specifically since May when I did my first track day with this car at Palmer. It basically ruined my day, like PointbyPatrol the vibration was so bad that I was pitting early. Did not help that my calipers were weeping and between both things was not really a fun day. I fought with these damn pads for months trying everything I could but would just keep happening (I never switched back to OEMs or other pads though, just sand pads, sand rotors, etc). I have had deposits before so I knew knew it was deposits but usually you drive car home after a track day and they are mostly gone.

I think they just really need a very good 1st time bedding, I actually did what I always do and was what the manufacturer recommends but I don't think it was enough. Just not the pad for me

I think I’m going to stick with the current setup and not mess with it. Paragon P3 in front and OEM in rear. The wife is fine with the seldom low squeak at the front, the car stops at the track and if it ain’t broke…

Definitely don’t go R5 if noise is a concern, they were some of the noisiest pads I ever had. The SR11 are actually pretty quiet most of the time, a little squeel when coming to a stop… just to warn pedestrians really.

I noticed with my SR11 they were silent for a month after my last track day. It seems daily driving them makes them a little noisy. Oh well totally fine with a little squeal every so often.

Yep, sounds exactly like what happens. I may try some CSG pads next time, but want to get a chance to rebed these and see what happens

This is the way. I'm incredibly impressed with the new C1X compound. Comes pre-bedded as well. No judder, no fade. 182 laps, 30 Sessions/Heat Cycles across 8 days + ~ 1000 street miles, and I'd wager another day or two left, but I need to take some measurements here shortly.

R5's really don't belong on the front of this car, it's going to overheat it too quick, and as everyone is noticing, leave a ton of deposits as it rapidly exceeds its optimal temp.

You clearly never used Hawk pads - I've been street driving on R5's front/rear. ?

Paragon was under $3k, now it's a bit over, but probably the cheapest one for our platform.

On my Golf R I had the 6 piston Stoptechs that were $2500 a few years ago and now it's over $5k, things certainly got inflated

Yep, absolutely! I bought a Stoptech C43 kit in early 2021 for an S2000 I used to own for $2k, and now I think that kit is listed close to $4.5k, it's crazy.

I know AP Racing is a great brand - I've looked at them for other cars but never actually moved forward.

I'm surprised by their experience on the Type R though - I wonder if Autobahn is particularly hard on brakes (or at least harder than average) - I think they alluded to it in another video?

With R5s front and rear, which by the mu/temp data aren't even particularly impressive, I haven't really felt like the pedal has started to go soft in any measurable way, but I've only been on 2 tracks so far and I don't use +R (so I don't have the rear brake contributing so much heat).

The Stoptech S2000 kit is what I based my price assumptions on. Never had it because I couldn’t afford to track a modified S2000 when I owned it. Apparently I still can’t haha.

the paragon is over 3 grand, I would not say its cheap. AP is good stuff, they supply brakes to tons of race teams, its the golden standard. Do any of us need it? of course not but do you need any of the "upgrades" you have done to your car? probably also not.
