Spoon vs PRL vs other rigid collars

Outside of brand name, is there a compelling reason to get spoon rigid collars versus other ones? Which other ones would you recommend?

No, they are all the same. Get whatever is cheapest.

This is an unpopulat opinion on this forum, but I wouldn't recommend any. I installed the collars and couldn't feel any difference on the street or track.

The idea of these collars is that they take up the slop between the subframe and chassis thus preventing the subframes from shifting under load. If the subframes were moving, you would expect to find witness markes on the subframe and/or chassis. When installing the collars on my car, I couldn't find any evidence said movement. My car had seen 5 track days at that point, so it had experienced some heavy use.

A very trustworthy mechanic at a renown shop who installed mine said that if anything, Honda should just have tighter bolts. He claimed the stock torque values seem too loose to him.

This is a good take. There are many aftermarket parts available that provide little to no value depending on the use case. Enthusiasts tend to buy shit just because it's available and then justify how the part makes the car feel "connected" or "planted" or "this is the way it should've come from the factory."

I personally installed Spoon Rigid Collars front and rear on both my Accords. One Accord was stock when I installed them, it was definitely a noticeable difference. Shifting was smoother, over bumps the car felt tighter.

I then bought the PRL SRS Collar kit front and rear (their version of Rigid Collars) for my FL5.

Installed the PRL ones on my stock FL5. I noticed the shifting again felt smoother. The car had less body roll on taking corners (in a higher speed) than it use to. Yes the car did feel more planted haha

Before installation on the PRL collars I compared them to a set of Spoon Collars that a friend has from the box.

The Spoon Collars were a bit thinner in material than the PRL ones. I should have measured it but didn't get a chance to.

So that's my take. Definitely a mod I would do to every one of my cars.

They all pretty much do the same thing. The shop that I get mine installed told me they've installed all different ones; Spoon, PRL, BLOX and said they really like the quality of the Spoon Rigid collars, but ultimately they all do the same thing so its really up to you and what you want to spend.

At the moment with all tariffs and custom fess, I'd probably say to not buy Spoon and go with PRL.

Same experience here. I installed the Spoon collars and haven’t noticed any difference.

Okay, so my goal is to get a fuel system and turbo upgrade but I want to optimize the cars handling before hand. What do you guys think would be a good way to go then? Outside of coil overs. .

I spent $225 for the PRL rigid collars because of the all the good reviews on this site and others. Just like Project DD, I couldn't feel much of a difference on the street, even after an alignment. While I don't regret buying them and the pain in the ass it was to install them, I probably won't ever install them again on any other of my cars.

As others have said, some of these aftermarket parts that are marketed to enthusiasts are chasing problems that don't exist.

The stock suspension is already very good on street and track. Are we trying to reduce lean at the track or on our way to Krogers/Stop n Shop/Giant Eagle/Walmart?

I ran some blox ones on my CVT sport after having a 70a rmm, the difference is night and day. I think if you're keen to the sloppiness that's exaggerated by rmms, then you'll be able to tell if it makes a difference on stock engine mounts.

Rear sway bar and as much chassis bracing as you can do. Lowering on the FL5 isn't nearly as effective on the track because the cars center of gravity is already so low.

Honestly I think you're better off messing with tires than even touching suspension.
