I’ve been thinking about switching to it too. I just want to make sure there is no gap like everyone’s been talking about

There's no way to know without smoke testing it or something. I used silicone tape to bridge the gap on mine, but it's a bit finicky to do so cleanly.

Honda OEM air filters are very efficient. Check out this thread where someone actually had one tested via ISO 5011

High efficiency air filtration is probably one of the reasons Honda engines last so long with minimal wear.

Anyone know if OEM Honda air filters are made in-house or rebranded?

These kinds of filters have been around for a couple decades now at least. You understand the tradeoff when you buy an intake like this. My 320k FA5 has been running around with a hybrid racing cold air and its still just as healthy as its always been. So I'm not too worried about it.

I know in the small engine go kart community they sell filter covers to help prevent heavy dust from clogging the filter. Maybe a solution for those in very dusty environments.

Its pretty wet in Indiana generally. I have not noticed my other cars panel filters being very dirty when I go to clean/re-oil (about 50k between)

Yes, but it is not a perfect fit to the stock airbox.
