Thanks Sporky. Wonder what they look like at night? Have you driven yours at night yet?

Yes I have.
Definitely a dimmer output than stock. How much dimmer? I don't know, and don't much care.

I am not a fan of "All Things Fully Hundo LED, FOREVER!!!", so I may have done it, partially, out of spite for blue-white LEDs.
There are better reasons than that, though (ehh, maybe).

The Main reason: the cool rally look.
Secondary reason: protection for the lenses.

MYGA!

I hope not much dimmer ..... I do have a problem with the factory headlights - for 2025 they could have, no, they should have been better! lol. I had a 96 Honda Civic w/ ebay retrofit parts, sorted properly, they illuminated the roadway w/out ever blinding anyone. I was never once high beamed by oncoming traffic.

but like you, I appreciate the competition yellow headlights. Had hobby painted some for my road race sedan back in 2017

I put a film on my S2000 headlights for fun. Luckily, I don’t drive it often at night because the light is dim. It does help protect the 18 year old headlight housing.

Well here’s the AI and I collab version ?

Overall Impression:
The Spoon lowering springs offer a well-rounded enhancement to the FL5’s dynamics. Steering, grip, and mid-corner confidence are all elevated without introducing harshness. For enthusiasts who daily drive in +R mode or appreciate a more connected feel, this modification brings the chassis closer to its full potential. Highly recommended as an early-stage upgrade.

Steering Response:
Immediately noticeable reduction in steering effort during low-speed maneuvers, such as reversing out of a tech bay. The steering now feels lighter and more responsive, likely due to a change in front-end geometry and reduced body roll, decreasing steering resistance. This improvement contributes to reduced driver fatigue during daily driving.

Chassis Dynamics:
During a familiar set of back-to-back corners typically requiring both hands on the wheel, the vehicle maintained composure and confidence when driven single-handedly with the non-dominant hand. This suggests improved chassis balance and lateral grip under moderate load, supporting greater control with less physical input.

Comfort Mode Behavior:
In Comfort mode, the vehicle exhibited increased composure and stability through long, sweeping corners. The ride is slightly more rigid than stock but remains compliant enough to absorb uneven surfaces. The improved damping and spring rate tuning offer a balance between comfort and performance, especially beneficial for spirited daily driving.

R Mode Refinement:
In +R mode, the suspension feels more cohesive and predictable. The spring set complements the factory damper settings well, refining the aggressive R-mode behavior without sacrificing road feedback or stability.

after all the ups & downs....of a saturday morning, we still made to the Hondata Jailbreak Tour. To make it make sense, back in Feb, FB, shared a memory of my old sedan. That sparked a recreation journey.

my wife & kid arrive and register (i was on my way to them w/ stock wheels and tires)

Appreciate that. My current wild style is just an interim. I ordered wheels before I had these made but they've yet to arrive. Last update was jun 10. where spoon retailer claimed they're in production.

Well well… I’ve been having quite the headache with my R. Hope everyone else is doing great out there.

It all started Aug 5th, around 4AM. A buddy and I were carpooling to a work training, cruising at low speed, when I hit some random object that had been kicked up into the road. Boom — DF tire blown. Weird part? The flat was so subtle I almost didn’t catch it. Instinct kicked in, pulled over, checked things out… yep, tire was toast.

Called AAA. First driver and I had a nice little verbal sparring match (not my proudest moment). Waited a while longer and finally got blessed with the second guy..... true lifesaver, while on probation. He dropped us at Denny’s, then took my car home. My coworker and I ended up Ubering the rest of the way to training.

After work, I had the car towed over to my local dealer. Figured since it was already there, might as well mention the other little gremlins I’d been noticing and have them go through it all.

Two weeks go by.....not a peep.

Finally, I get a call, “Techs say they can’t duplicate your noises.” I go in, take the techs for a spin, and within minutes and show them how to recreate the noises. Left the car w/ them and politely asked if they’d hook me up with a rental. I Ended up in a ’25 Civic Hybrid...... ummm, instantaneously I notice the sound system was way better than the R’s. Why? No idea.

FFWD two more weeks and I get the classic line, your car is ready, techs say“It’s normal.” Yeah… no. I pushed back and asked them to escalate this to American Honda. Normal are day 1 noises, not xxxx miles later. The strikethroughs below are some of the items they did handle, I was adamant about that darn tail light, which doubled as a fish bowl from time to time.

Sept 5th; I finally get the R back, but notice a vibration right away once I hopped on the fwy. I Drive maybe 8 miles, pull into a rest stop, and start inspecting the car, I get to the back and lay down to find the rear wheel bent. I call immediately and leave a message. I went with the techs on a test drive just recently, there was no vibration like this. A few days later, I’m back at the dealer for a wheel repair. Problem, my warranty contract was on hold due to an appeal, so instead of replacing anything, they “balance and rotate” the wheels.

I get off of work, I pick the car up… hit the fwy again, this time vibrations are worse than ever and now the door is rattling. Again, I call immediately. Almost home I pull into a gas station, give the car a once over and… WTH do I see? My driver side wheels were scratched. I blow them up, and I get no answer. When we finally connect, I keep it calm - stuff happens, just make it right is the vibe of the convo. Warranty is now active, and I’m just waiting on the dealer to give me the green light.

Dealing w/ all these headaches and inconveniences, I've considered making the jump to a M3 comp or GT3, granted I dont like the BMMMR crowd, I'm leaning towards the GT3. If the buyback happens. If it doesn't and they wish to give me another R, I'm leaving it stock. 😅 Meanwhile, I’d had enough of the shaking. Ordered a set of 265/35s, got them mounted Wednesday night, and threw them on today. Finally the R feels fun to drive again.

  • Washer nozzles did not spray
  • Valve cover leaking
  • Audio quality
  • Heater Inop
  • Tail light leaking
  • Wastgate rattle
  • Trans growl, noise goes away w/ clutch in (I think, ISB bearing)
  • Scuff on rear of steering wheel
  • Tire replacement

Sadly, it’s been a wild ride. All under 8k miles. However, I love driving this car. It’s so fun and fast for a production Honda. Reeled in a new 5 series sedan, gapped a 14+ E class & a boosted 99 civic coupe, got reeled in and passed by a fast fk8 at 150mph, seems the stock turbo runs out of umph up there 🤣…..
