2 spots open for this coming week! PM directly if you are interested.
Man, I really need to get my ECU jailbroken and Hondata so I can enjoy one of your tunes! I’m probably going to wait until next spring after winter storage, but it’s hard to be patient!

One thing I’ve been wanting to ask you about is this: Aside from gaining additional power, what other differences can I expect? Specifically, one thing that bothers me is what seems to be a lack of linearity of power delivery under lighter throttle application. Like if I am casually accelerating in second gear, I feel surges of power at various points as rpm increases, but with a steady petal position. Is Honda’s factory tuning is like this because they had to satisfy emissions requirements? Or is this a product of tuning by torque request (not sure if that’s a newer thing)? I don’t know if other owners complain about this, but I would be curious to hear your take on it.

So the way this car adjusts the throttle sensitivity is by torque request so you are correct.

There will always be a little surge due to the nature of not being able to tune the throttle like it is a naturally aspirated car. Once past a certain point you will build boost and that will give you another bump in the way the car feels. But other people that have been tuned by me here can attest to the linearity of the custom tune.

I try to make the car as predictable as possible without sacrificing too much power. I also tune in a way that I don’t spike the car down low as hard to get that kick in the pants so the car feels more linear. But for sure I can adjust the throttle to your liking.

Also when the car is in Winter storage would be a perfect time to take out the ECU and let Hondata do it’s thing.

Thank you for that explanation! And, yes, the winter down time will be a good opportunity to remove the ECU. I am very much looking forward to working with you on this!

Other than the price, what was the downside compared to stock?
@Jester04 told me he helped a buddy install one, and that you have to completely re-do all the vacuum hoses, and that it doesn't come with the parts to do that.

It comes with the parts and hoses and fittings, but there is no way to hold the accessories to the manifold like OEM. @Integra23 can confirm.

Thr only piece that needs rework is the solenoid to the bypass valve. The original mounting bracket can be used and secured to the fuel line cover on the firewall. You will need a longer hose to accomplish this. In the meantime i used safety wire to suspend it.

That is an easy fix, once you have the hose it will look very clean.

@Jester04 for tuning does it have to be done on a dyno or can a street tune work? Or on a track day? Last car I needed to tune was a 1991 Eagle Talon so it's been a while ?

It can be anything you want, I have these cars pretty down and I can comfortably do a street tune. No dyno or track time needed unless you want. I have tuned almost every single setup out there too so have a good idea of the power it makes.

I have tuned every single fuel system out there, most bigger turbos except for RV6 since I haven’t had a customer that has one. Stock turbo all types of setups.

We have come a long way from older cars. These have a good wideband sensor from the factory and so much monitoring that you can pretty much do them from anywhere.

I would not touch an older platform remote unless they have a standalone with good monitoring. Or a way to log afr’s, so subaru’s, Evo’s, other Hondas I would prefer to do in person unless they have the previously stated setup.
