Kinda reiterating, but in the end to Joe shmoe, a type R is just a civic and any old Integra looks like a nicer car. I can say with certainty that if you wanted a car that looks like a sports car to random on the street, you woulda gotten something besides an ITS or CTR (though the CTR looks more aggressive because of the wing)If you can get one without a markup, 100% agreed. I couldn't at the time my DE5 became available so that was an easy one for me.
Is it though? If the Type S "borrows" all the same engineering that went into the Type R, then I don't see where the delineation is from a "motorsports heritage" perspective.
Where I won't disagree is that I think if that's something that you think is important, then it's a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" thing. I wasn't really being all that facetious when I said you made the right choice if telling people you have a Type R is important to you.
But the other side of that, is that to many people the Type R is still just a Civic. In fact, for most people who don't know who Henry Catchpole is, they would probably default to thinking a base Integra A-spec is a "nicer car" than an FL5... not that any of this matters to people reading this thread, just bringing it up as a counterpoint.
