So what’s the latest on this for the FL5? Right now I have the sprint air filter but this only made a subtle difference and I want to hear more whooshies.

I’m aware that I can install whatever I want and change it back but that’s not what this is about, I’m looking for updates or info on California legal parts.

I do not believe there are any CARB legal intakes for the FL5 yet, a lot of companies have submitted theirs for approval it just takes forever and a day.

Can always check the CARB site and see if something is legal and has an EO number.

Thanks, I didn’t think so, was just curious if there were any updates since the last posts I found were early this year.

You should be fine running any intake. If you plan on upgrading your exhaust then that might give them a reason to pull you over and look under your hood to jerk off to some non-carb legal parts. I wouldn't worry too much.

Why does the intake need to be carb approved? As long as you get one that sticks with the OEM plenum size, it doesn't affect the mass air flow sensor, then it has no affect on emissions.

If you want to hear more noise, but stick with OEM box, then just remove the intake resonator.

If a cop suspects your car is modded in California, which most are dumb when it comes to cars and will probably assume the CTR is modded because they see the rear spoiler and assume you got it from Autozone and installed it yourself, they will cite you for having modifications and send you to a place called the State Ref where they need to verify that your car is not modified before you're able to operate your vehicle on the road again. I have gotten about 6 of those tickets all the way from 2008 to 2023.

Intakes in CA is like tint on the front doors: technically illegal but everyone does it anyway

As noted above, they are not CARB approved yet.

Hopefully soon though. PRL also has pending certifications. It's a fun (and expensive) process!
