That's crazy because I just called Queensway Honda to check-in as I've had a deposit with them for a while now and they told me I am second in line but they are offering it to the guy who is first in line with $5k options added and if he says no they will go down the list until someone says yes.

Such BS, when I put my deposit I said MSRP and the rep said yes MSRP...
When did you get your deposit in? Sucks to hear man. I was in the same boat at my dealership went from 4th to 11th because they lost my deposit. Hope you get it sorted. Based on VINs I've seen recently, there's not many more coming.

Supply and demand. I mean they get so few of these, it really should go to the person who wants it the most.

From the buyer's perspective, F**k all those who buy one and flip it within a year. There are people who would keep this car into the 2040's if they only had the chance to secure one and these bozos are getting in the way of that.

From the dealer's perspective, screw all those dealers who offer really shitty add-ons. Thankfully in Canada they can't go full retard and charge an outright dealer markup, but there are still those forcing $200 nitrogen in the tires and other stupid overpriced options to get around this.

The happy medium is a dealer say choose $5k of add ons and you get some winter tire, PPF, a tint, maybe the all-weather mats and trunk tray, stuff that you'd be spending anyway.

Anyone who thinks they're getting a CTR in Canada for MSRP is misguided. That, or has an inside man in the Honda organization to make it happen, otherwise you're deluding yourself.

I + many others got their CTR for MSRP (or plus a small fee) so its not impossible. Its harder yes but not impossible, so no not misguided.

Plenty of people have gotten one at MSRP earlier on or recently via east coast dealers.

On paper the dealers cant sell above MSRP but they absolutely can get around it in many ways. Newmarket and Ottawa Honda both sold their recent units for $70K

The real blame lies with Honda Canada as they:
1. Failed to secure enough units. The US gets 2.5x FL5 per capita, Australia gets almost 6x as many per capita, despite Canadians buying 6x as many Honda vehicles per capita as Australians.

2. Not punishing dealers.

The rep was dishonest with you. When I put my deposit down I was aware I would have to add in some accessories etc I just wasnt expecting $8Ks worth, plus the '25 went up almost $2K.

Queensway is pretty reasonable as it seems other dealers are adding almost 15K in right now.

Agreed, it's not impossible but at the same time a small fee is not MSRP. Forced adders or even needing to ship it or drive it back home >4 hours is not MSRP either.

In the Maritimes I think people are generally nicer and less ready to screw you over like in Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver and also the demand for fancy cars is not there leading to usually higher likelihood for closer to MSRP + no games.

I was shopping for a Hybrid Civic here in Montreal and when the salesman saw my ITS he told me how there was a 2 year waiting list with dozens of deposits and how one of their allocations was scooped up by someone in Vancouver because it was cheaper than the ridiculous sums they were asking in the GVA

Wow thanks for the info. It is crazy we get so little per capita.

To straighten out the dealers it should be that they don't get any more units so long as they haven't sold their's. Want to price it at $70k, well the next batch goes to dealerships who have been moving units.

You have to understand they are technically independent businesses and Honda Canada can't tell them what to do. So if a dealership in the sticks wanted to blast out the entire Canadian allocation for MSRP while the other A-holes tried to get top dollar for their single car, it would prevent them from dicking around too much.

Type R
FYI,
I was told by a local dealer that they were only supposed to receive one 2025 Type R this year, but they’ve already received three between January and July. Additionally, the dealership where I purchased my car informed me that all their allocated 2025 Type R units arrived last month. However, yesterday, the manager texted me asking if I’d be interested in trading in my 2024 Type R for a 2025 Type R, which suggests they have an extra unit available.

Looks like we lost a few posts since the recent server upgrades, just bringing a few of them I still had history of back:

11th Gen Honda Civic Canadian dealer asked what colour Type R I want 1753735669569-m1
