Hey all! So have been doing some digging for a potential new exhaust for the 10 day old FL5 and so far have been disappointed with the sound of them. I'm looking for something DEEP and mellow sounding, more so, tired of obnoxious and buzzy like I've been seeing.

The ONLY one that's close? The TOMEI dual pipe, surprisingly without mufflers even, sounds the best! Armytrix, AWS, and on and on just sound too....buzzy/tinny/noisy.

Any insight would be appreciated!!

I understand the enthusiasm of enjoying this car first-hand, but this car has been out for over 3 years and this topic has been discussed ad nauseum. It's one of the biggest drawbacks or considerations for this platform. This isn't a first. There are several threads, and one large exhaust thread that gets into this. Find that thread, review it, check all the YouTube, FB, and IG content and add to the discussion there.

yea its challenging, you may want to consider downpipe frontpipe and unplugging exhaust valve fuse and see how you like that.

outside of that the only two exhaust systems in my opinion that come anywhere close to what you are describing are the Borla Atak and HKS legamax/hipower

I''ll have to try that! Do they have a replacement straight pipe?
Just go to a good exhaust shop & have them cut them out and weld in stainless. It took my guy 30 minutes and was so cheap. I also did the fuse mod so the valve is always open.

honestly, my opinion it sounds just as good as alot of these exhausts that are 2-3k.

I did that on my TLX Type S....secondary resonator/cat delete for a straight pipe with stock exhaust and it was really nice! Then added the full exhaust later that sounded good with a V6.

the exhaust valve fuse keeps the valve controller open at all times on the catback, the piped in sound in cabin you can change by using individual mode and engine sound set to comfort

engine on +r, steering on +r, etc
suspension, up to you but i prefer comfort for daily and sport for rolls
but then yea you can put engine sound on comfort and it will remote the piped in fake noise

A lot has been repeated here do your research you're excited right now you like the rest of us will have to spend the next 6 months to a year researching listening to every available aftermarket exhaust and then being disappointed 😂

Remember exhaust sound is also very personal what sounds like drone to someone doesn't sound like going to others. Some people also enjoy a loud boomy exhaust some people don't

Brother once again ground yourself and do research you are misusing and interchangeably using terms we have two resonators the first one coming from the cat the second one in the middle aka the mid resonator and that goes to the back to three Mufflers in the rear. It's also important to understand the job of a resonator versus a muffler go on YouTube and Facebook you'll see videos where people have removed and done various combinations.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread the biggest thing to decide before you touch your exhaust is will you ever plan to do a downpipe.

Can you point me to where I would find that the exhaust part after the valve is called a muffler?
