So I really wanna get the FL5 spoon from bumper. It’s 3500 on spoon USA with an additional 500 dollar tariff and delivery fee…too much. Blackhawk has it for 2k but shipping is 1600 dollars plus whatever tariffs will get tacked on later.

Someone on this forum had shipped through a freight and was significantly less for shipping albeit a bit more complicated and timely. Anyone has any advice or help? Love the bumper but hate the thought of wasting so much of the cost on shipping and tariffs.

For something that ;large and that special. I genuinely recommend going through official channels. When you order through official channels you are guaranteed support if something goes left. Blackhwak does provide support when yopu have issues but there's a greater piece of mind when dealing with a dealer officially recognized but the company that makes the bumper. Justin at Strafe racing is doing preorders and he can probably get you a good deal on one, $4k vs. $3.6k+ really isn't that big of a difference. I highly doubt there is any way to get the Genuine Spoon bumper under $3500 to your door

I caution using BlackHawk because of Tariffs. Right now I am fighting a UPS Invoice in which they charged 50% on a plastic piece which BlackHawk submitted as Iron or Metal. I paid once invoice and double checked, sure enough, that one was charged 50% also. These were FRP pieces. Looking at the Spoon Bumper and if they charge you another 50% you will be close to $5k.

IMO, you are better off buying an OEM Bumper from Honda and just hacking it until its designed the same way as the Spoon, lol....

No idea how it’s 50%. Tarrifs for car parts is 25%. Spook USA will actually give you the amount and say it’s 500 more for tarrifs.

You're rolling the dice dealing with tariffs, especially on high dollar items. What it's "supposed" to be and what you're actually charged are not always consistent. The carriers seem to be using this event as an opportunity to price gouge. I would either go through an authorized dealer or wait until the tariff money grab is over. Let us know how this shakes out for you.

You couldn’t say it better. All these companies are using the tariff as an excuse to charge you more, just because. Like everyone is saying here, use someone local who is already dealing with this. There are a couple of vendors here who can probably get you a deal.

Sadly, I might sound like a jerk now, but I’m not trying to imply that. Unfortunately, these JDM companies know there are people willing to pay ridiculous prices for parts because of some sense of exclusivity. If you want Spoon, Mugen, or any other JDM brand, they’ll bend you over and destroy your behind, on top of making you wait a long time because “they are small shops.”

It’s better to go with a vendor who is already handling the tariffs and won’t hit you with, “Oh, for that part you need to pay $1k because of the tariff,” after you’ve already spent $5k.

I mean, I don’t think the prices are that crazy in Japan. The bumper on Blackhawk is only 2k which means its not bad for locals but means it’s expensive for those outside that need it shipped.

Do you know the pricing "is not bad for locals" or is that an assumption? It may be considered expensive there and even more expensive elsewhere, who knows. But it doesn't matter what it would cost you in Japan, because you don't live there, you live here. This is one of those items where if you want it, you're going to have to pay up. You're in for ~$7,000 for paint, ppf, and installation.

On a side note, I also don't think that bumper will hit without the Spoon bonnet, so go ahead and tack on another ~$7,000 for paint, ppf, and installation. Not my money, but that's a lot of bread to part with for some aero pieces.

Now that you mention it. Yeah would be kinda basic looking without the spoon hood.

Don’t forget the matching rear bumper. Go ahead and tack on another 6k.
It would be shame to go that far and not complete most of the theme.

you could probably get away with not doing the Spoon side skirts if want to save some money 😊

Isn’t being poor or not just an expensive part? Because, to use the bumper the "right way," you need to be on track to get some benefits. Most people who can and want to afford this have cars that don’t even run 2,000 miles a year, just for car shows. So, it feels kind of silly to pay that much when no one other than you and a couple of people will even know what that part is. Sure, it’s a good thing they’re making money, but look at how much the yen is against the dollar—it’s still a lot of money regardless. This part is like the Mugen Group B parts; nobody will pay $10k+ for a Mugen part except a select few who just want to brag about it.
