Just watched this vid and noticed the increased openings on the front bumpers of these FL5 race cars ->

What makes you feel that the stock bumper isn't providing sufficient airflow?

Because there's still reports of people overheating on track. Let's not have this become a debate about airflow. I'm just curious if there's any companies making bumpers with more airflow.

Input from @PointByPatrol would probably be some good advice.

I don't think that the front bumper airflow is the bottleneck in the cooling department in comparison to the radiator.

In general there is not a lot of parts made for this platform.

Yeah I'm surprised at the limited aftermarket support for this car. The other car I was looking to buy was the mk5 supra and that car has a very healthy aftermarket.

It could be worse...you could have a DE5 like me and have even more limited aftermarket support!

Agree. There's plenty of aftermarket support for the FL5. There are in excess of 20 exhaust systems available, a handful of downpipes and front pipes, half a dozen intercoolers, over 10 intake options, plenty of aero options, suspension offerings are plentiful as well and there are more offerings coming online in the next 6 months. The FL5 has been available for less than 24 months. Rejoice and be glad in the options available and stop thinking this is the 90s when there were 35 parts for each category. Those days are long gone.

I think it would be pretty neat if Spoon offered the front bumper they used on their 24 hour race car to the public. The side vents are perfect locations for oil coolers, trans coolers, intakes, you name it, but it doesn't appear that the grill opening to the radiator is larger. I think we have adequate openings for the radiator, but that bar and plate intercoolers are killing the efficiency of the radiator. There has been background testing in the works from companies like PWR and RV6 that utilize tube and fin technologies, and from what I hear, the results are outstanding.

I was also looking at footage and pics of their car. The surrounding pieces to their side vents almost look like they took it off the ITS and grafted it onto the CTR.

A nice close up of their car with timestamped at the front bumper view ->

Having the side pods was something I miss from the FK8!

I think Spoon is working on an intercooler and front bumper.

I would argue it isn't air flow, it's coolant and oil capacity that ultimately end up causing heat soak. For reference the AMG Cla 45 has triple the coolant capacity of the FL5.
