@Superhatch do you plan on using the stock shifter boot? Also, are there any easily-accessible adjustments with the console on (but shifter boot off), or do you have to teardown the middle console every time?
I just remove the silver console part and use a stubby multi tool with the extension to adjust gate and throw. Height is easy with just a normal Allen

I have the stock shifter boot back on now.

I also bought the metal ring adapter, which will be good to help with removal because getting that oem plastic ring off was the hardest part of the install. But the metal ring is a smaller diameter and the leather is a little pinched. It's really hard to notice but it's not a 1:1 piece. It does fit the base of the shifter fine.

Height can be easily adjusted by removing the top part of the console, it seems like you can get to the gate settings too, but you'll have to kind of adjust them by feel when the walls of the console are in place. Normally I would just drive with everything apart for a few days but I had to drive some people I work with today and didn't want to seem too weird.

Also I'm hoping that maybe after driving for a little bit that 2-3 shift will loosen up for the slow speed shifting.

Overall still really love the mod.

I’m not a content creator, yet I feel the need to make a short 30 second video on how to remove the shifter boot collar in 10 seconds or less. Honda really did make it simple to do without damage to any part

I say yes, some of the videos out there really suck.

It will break in and become much smoother. I would say it takes a couple of weeks, depending on how much you drive.

I agree! I couldn’t believe the lengths people on YT were going to in order to remove the boot collar. WHICH was so polar opposite to the instructions that Honda printed for the collar removal required for the installation of the red accessory shift knob.
I will be at my garage where I keep my car, today or this weekend, and will take the clip.

Could you just give a short description? The instructions from acuity basically just said "pull down" and that MF did not just pull down. I ended up using two different plastic pry tools to get it off.

Yes I can.
1) feel around under the leather boot directly below the plastic collar.
2) somewhere between the two stitching lines that are at, say, 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock on the boot you will feel a ‘bump’ through the leather boot.
3) directly opposite (180°) from the first felt ‘bump’ you will feel a second ‘bump’ through the shift boot leather.
4) with your thumb on one bump and your index finger on the opposite bump (use fingers from same hand), squeeze these two bumps together while at the same time giving the collar a twisting motion and pulling down. It (the boot collar) pops right off!

Hope this works for you and others.

If anyone is on the fence about the acuity short shifter, go for it it’s one of the best shifters I’ve ever felt

Most methods for shift boot collar did not work for me. If they did work for you, awesome, I'll post a quick of my method, it has worked always for me.

That’s funny shit right there! Wonder if Honda knows you ‘need’ a pick tool.

Here’s the official instructions!

Like I said in the video, just forcing down the shift boot collar did work for the first few times in my fk8 and works for many others, but once I sold the car and took out the Acuity shifter, I had zero luck with the pull down method haha.

I'm guessing over time the tabs get pushed in too much, and they need a little help getting pulled out to get around the lock nut.

So again, I'm not saying that the Honda way does not work, but I found over time it did not work for me.

Bro just pull it down, ez. -Honda

I spent 15m with two plastic removal tools and fucked up my fingertips in the process. Worst part of the install.

Exactly. Popping the shifter console out and going at it from the bottom was the only way I could do it without worrying about marring something up.
