Hey all! So I'll start this and update it as I go. It'll be a slower go than usual: Deal I made with the wife about modding the thing! LOL....SLOWLY....hahahahaha...whatev's

Anyway, trying to be unique will be interesting here. It's a much more moddable car, where the TLX Type S I have/had was much more unique and not as many parts for it....and I had 1/2 of the mods made for that car myself! LOL....

But i'll try and keep you all posted!

First upgrades:

1. Racesang Titanium lugnuts, one set black and one set burned blue (depending on which wheels are on) Too bad the company isn't doing these anymore.
2. 5mm Spacers. going to do custom wheels so NO spacers are required, but it's a start and looks a bit better.
3. 275/35 - 19 Vredestein Hypertrac rubber: ultra high perf all season. SUPERB tire in dry and snow!
4. Making a set of TDP6 forged wheels in 18": 18x10 +53offset with 275/35-18 Yokahama or Conti rubber, summer.
5. Acuity oil filler cap
6. TDP Racing catch can

Pics coming soon!

BTW...this is sort of my inspiration for the build. SUPER nice, mean and clean! :)

look forward to following your build. For your spacers, did you have plenty of thread left on the stock lugs? Curious how thick of a spacer you think you’d need before needing longer bolts.

If you run something like the BONOSS spacers this isn't an issue, since there are separate studs that are attached to the spacer. I run 20mm front/rear without issue and did so as I plan to run a 18x9.5 +40 or +38 offset with aftermarket wheels, so I wanted something close for when I switch back to stock wheels. 5mm is too little IMO, the wheels will still appear sunken in.

OP, good luck with the build. I am a fan of the clean look you are going for.

Yeah, it’s only 5 mm so I wasn’t too worried about it. I ran the same set up on the Type S TLX.

Spacers are never a good thing. So I built my wheels to not need them. These are 52 offset stock. I made them 43. But 10” wide and 285 rubber. Perfection!!

Are you having Titan 7 build a custom set for you? If so, could you share a bit more detail? Your statement is a little vague. Or do you prefer to keep it private about who’s building the wheels because it’s just for you?

It’s a great inspiration, but could you expand on which brand is doing this for you? I imagine it would be more expensive than buying a forged 18x10 with similar specs already on the market.

I don’t mean this in a negative way at all—sometimes comments can come across differently than intended. I’m just curious if there are companies that can work like that. For example, if I wanted a 19x9.5 +54, how could I make that happen while still getting a great wheel?

ha...I do my own wheels. Forged. I have an OEM company I work with that does a fantastic job....

I can make ANYTHING: color, size....all custom. It's pretty cool and someone that I've built maybe a dozen sets with. All race proven (track use) and super light! :) nuff said, don't want to get in trouble on here :)

Quick update: I'm a firm believer in catch cans. I've taken A LOT of oil from them over the past few years, saving future issues with buildup and such, hopefully :)

So the first major upgrade, or preventative one (I'm big into that!) will be a Radium dual catch can setup.

Step 2: New ground kit all custom made

Step 3: thicker oil. I hate 0w anything. I run 5w/20 in the Type S and will, after the break in change, run Amsoil in this one too!

Spacers are never a good thing.
There is nothing wrong with running spacers on a street car or mild track use car. I noted in another thread about spacers specifically that the NSX guys run HUGE spacers, like 25mm in the rear with no issues and have been for decades, street and track use. Will it put a small amount of extra wear on bushings, sure. But were modifying our cars, everything we do adds a little more wear.

Edit: Looking forward to the build. :)

So stage 2: wheels. Just finalized the sizing and offset on the 18" wheels. We are using the TDP5 (spoon) wheels 18x10", 52 offset w/Kenda UHP Max+ 285/35-18 rubber for track use!

Also picked up J's Racing springs. Might do the intercooler? And need to hear the new exhaust! :)
