I'm wondering if this has ties with the upcoming prelude using FL5 parts. We already have Acura and that's not going to matter since its made in the US and not in Japan, so emissions and sound regulations wouldn't matter. They already announced the HRC version is coming out. Even if it's cancelled we'll have other options.. Just more expensive

Probably doesn’t hurt. They don’t need won’t need the K20C1 I have created a parts bin from left over Type R suspension. Only thing that sucks is that price will go up due to tariffs unless Honda decides to move production to the U.S. Curious to see how it’s priced here in Canada.

It's almost August when Honda transited to MY25 last year. After they announced the ultimate edition in Europe, I have been waiting for the limited edition for US or global announcement but no news. So I'm pretty much waiting for 26 FL5 announced now.

Honda could end it in 25 like TLX did but I think they would likely release a limited edition like the ultimate edition or FK8 LE to make some money on the last batch. So that got to be a MY26.

I just wonder if there will be any exterior change if there's a MY26 though. I still think 26 will be the last year for FL5 so it would be odd if they change anything for one model year only

My speculation...

Japan Phase 3 noise and emissions laws kick in mid-2026, which would halt production entirely since the cars are built there.

In Europe, it's confirmed that the current FL5 is getting axed after 2025 due to stricter Euro 6e Bis emissions regs starting January 2026, which the K20C1 engine doesn't comply with.

Rumors say Honda's already stopped taking orders for new Type Rs, including the Black Edition.

Some dealer whispers and forum posts suggest the FL5 might continue into 2026 as a carryover model with no facelift, just a possible price increase as it went up $800 for '25 :-(

Production might run through first half of '26 before tapering off, but others think it'll end by late '25 to make way for electrified successors :-(

Honda's export data and supply chain logistics (engines made in Ohio, assembled in Japan) make a full global shutdown tricky, but the noise and emissions regulations are real.

The ultimate edition already delivered in Europe this month so Europe likely will end with 25. I agree Honda most likely wouldn't make FL5 globally if Japan doesn't get it so 26 will likely be it. If they announce limited edition in September, that would be the confirmation just like the ultimate edition for Europe.

And I also think ITS will end with FL5. It doesn't make sense for them to make the low volume car/engine just for USA. The TLX termination is an example.

I believe the CTR is done after MY25, but the ITS will go on for another year or two. They already have changes coming with respect to exterior colours to start, and since the engines and car are built and assembled in Ohio, they won’t need to rely on Japan on for materials and parts.

What's strange is I'm hearing rumors of a Type R version of the Prelude in the works.. I"m not sure if it's true.. Anyone hear about this?

I am on the list for the 2025 FL5 here in Australia. My dealer says that there is a facelift, but there is no release exactly what it covers, except for some front styling change, Google head unit, changed/better (?) sound system...red is out, blue is in as we know. Mine will be white with full options.:)

Nah, it makes sense they'd still build the DE5. It was released a year behind the FL5 anyway, built entirely in the US, and it's exclusive to the North American market. TLX I don't think is relevant because it's had a much longer production run.

I'll also say I wouldn't be surprised if they shitcan it, but it feels like it would at least make more sense to let it run out another year of production after having spent all the resources spinning up production for it. But none of us posting on here have the requisite data to make any informed decisions, hence the name of the thread.
