Hi All,

Shopping for the Type R. Wanted to get an idea of OTD prices. Hoping to be able to get a decent deal due to end of year. I am in County of Orange, CA. Also, is there a dealer that you would recommend?

thank you!

Most of the OTD price depends on your zip code as that determines your sales tax. Sales tax is the biggest part of OTD cost after vehicle cost. I just bought a FL5 yesterday and my OTD was $52,482 based on 8.75% sales tax in Northern California.

Was there a dealer's markup, or did you get it at MSRP?

OTD is the dumbest way to compare pricing. Everyones situation is different and it depends on where you live. Some states have no taxes and some do, some people have trade-ins and some don't. IMO what matters is did you pay MSRP, over or under. Did you have any accessories and how much. Where there additional fees. We can't control the taxes where we live.

Someone in Cali paying MSRP might end up paying more OTD than a guy in New Hampshire paying a markup.

What i am really trying to find out is, if dealers are still marking them up, specifically in So Cal.

This, but somehow people still don't seem to understand this concept. It's like people comparing outputs from different dynos. It's the most ridiculous comparison, yet people still do it and don't understand why it's an issue. Also, evaluating a deal with a trade-in should be tossed out as a legitimate comparator.

Bought my Boost blue FL5 on thanksgiving weekend from Rockettown in Lompoc, CA for MSRP. They threw in a cargo mat and wheel locks as well. It's an extremely small dealer in the middle of nowhere though. I had to drive the car back 5 hours in traffic to OC. MSRP is totally doable if you get price breakdowns and show them around.

I also almost got one from Illinois, as MSRP and lower is easier out of Cali. More paperwork to do though plus the cost of shipping does make it better to find MSRP in Cali if you can, but better than giving more money to a dealer IMO. In Cali, tax paid to another state for sales tax is credited towards Cali sales tax (you'll have to pay any difference which there will most likely be if you're OC)

Of course I'm not sure how the situation is even 2 weeks later as dealers start to pull the ol' Type R about to be discontinued markups. But its almost end of year so people probably will be more desperate to close a sale too.
