2 weeks ago they offered me 5M over. I am local though and libe right down the street from them.
5k over is totally realistic considering the FK8 never Universally dropped to msrp. also, for those of you who are waiting it out... keep in mind that the price at MSRP is now 1k higher than when it was 1st introduced... and will be going up in the months ahead. also, interest rates are still climbing if you are going to be financing any part of it.

conversely, the 2024 model will be coming out, and that will have an impact on the value of 2023 cars. an unknown variable is if the UAW strike happens, it's unclear how the rest of the market may react. it may or may not affect other brands.

If i were still in the market, i would be sitting tight until thanksgiving and then start jumping on the dealers who have stock. I would be careful of fallout from a strike or other unknowns... but i would be patient yet ready. this isn't a recommendation... i'm just saying what i would do.

Paid MSRP for my 2020 BB, granted I did have to fly and drive it back about 10 hours, totally worth it.

Curious if there’s any info on the 2024s.
Expected to arrive October or November?

2024 are scheduled to arrive late November, only difference between MY 23 and MY 24 will be the MSRP. Unsure how much it will go up by but expect anywhere between $300-$500.

Is this confirmed? No changes on the 2024?

Yep. Typically, any minor improvements made for the first couple of years are transparent to the consumer. Material/marketable improvements usually happen during a mid-model “refresh” as seen during the FK8’s production run. So, expect the 2023’s and 2024’s to be the same. 2025 is when to keep an eye out for any changes as @AspecR said.

Great info - thank you!
What is your impression of the effect a 2024 (for a few hundred more) will have on dealer pricing for 2023s?
I had given my opinion based on what i know of general business strategies and consumer behavior, but unlike you, i have no dealer-perspective insight. I am curious to know what you think the dealerships might do? I'm esp wondering how the dealers will react once they find themselves sitting on "last year's model" in the new year?

Very valuable info. I had not known this either. In electronics manufacturing, there are internal changes with almost every production run (even some on-the-fly due to supplier issues or unexpected bugs)...while often no external changes. Makes sense that car manufacturers would skip a year for overt changes given there are so many physical parts.
Thank you! Love this forum.

I can only speak based on patterns in South Florida, but sitting on last year's model will only have a minor effect at best on the FL5 Type R prices. A dealership that had an ADM isn't going to suddenly let it go for MSRP because they have 1 of the new model year allocated. In South Florida, only 1 dealership has had 3 at a time sit on their lot for more than 2 weeks (Honda of Aventura.) Based on their location, they really aren't incentivized to lower their ADM (last I checked it was 15k over.) These cars bring in so much foot traffic, that they almost pay for themselves in new cars that were otherwise sold. Many a Civic Si and Civic Sport have been sold because someone heard my dealership had a Type R on the lot, but the interested party couldn't afford it and bought something they could afford.

Other States might be open to pricing adjustments because they now have the "old" model. But we mustn't forget, these things are still relatively rare and even the top dealerships only get 1 or 2 every 2-3 months.

Just for information purposes, my dealership has received a total of 9 2023 FL5 Type Rs. One of those 9 is still in transit. The next one we receive will be a 2024. By this time in the FK8s lifespan we had sold almost 5 times that amount.

@AspecR Very interesting data point that tracks with what you’ve been saying for awhile now, regarding FK8 vs FL5 numbers/availability over the same amount of time.

I surmise that getting a 2024 CTR vs a 2023, at this stage in the game, will only really matter to those who swap cars frequently since having a later model year can impact near-in resale value.

Speaking of civic si. Does anyone here have both si and type r? Or plan to have both. I am getting a type r but I really want a si for daily commute. Maybe I am doing it wrong and just have the type r to daily. I honestly love both the si and type r. Also is there a tracker for si? Hard to find an orange one.
