In theory yes but who knows with the production woes.

How many Civic did Honda sell in 2022?
Honda sold 96,286 Civic in 2022. (From Jan - Sep 2022)
How many Civic did Honda sell in September 2022?
Honda sold 9,381 Civic in September 2022.
How many Civic did Honda sell in 2021?
Honda sold 263,787 Civic in 2021. In 2020, Honda sold 261,225 Civic. They sold 2,562 more units in 2021 compared to 2020 with a percent gain of 0.98% YoY.

Sales numbers are down because production numbers have plummeted. Hence the reason why all cars are being marked up, they are just harder to come by.

Honda will likely finish the year with 130,000 civics sold in 2022, that's half of what they sold in 2021. Production delays continue into 2023. The dealership I'm working with on an SI has seen one allocation in September (mine), and had 1 allocation in October. 2023 is not going to be a good year for civic acquisition.

I know that the Type R can't be compared to typical civic manufacturing but I'd be willing to bet almost anything that over the 3 year stretch the US will not see more than 17,000 vehicles, less than the 20k FK8s that the US were given.
actually thats kinda skewed. Passenger cars are in a downward spiral. People want CUV's over sedans. Ford eliminated passenger cars all together. I predict in the next 10 years the Civic will turn in to a CUV.

It’s plausible based on sequential comparable runs / batches that there will initially be around 1k out to dealers by late November. Question is do they keep the spigot open or do they accumulate another batch for late q1 as round 2.
All I’ve been told is, as many available resources are being allocated to the FL5 as possible at the moment. Things will improve but by how much remains to be seen

Just talked to my sales rep guy at my local honda dealership and he just confirmed from the regional sales person that they're going to get at least 1 type r by the end of the year ? (and yes I'm #1 on the list). I'm excited asl right now.

if chevy can make 26k Corvettes last year Honda can least do 20k for a more affordable car.
Chevrolet has an entire factory dedicated solely to the Corvette. Type Rs do not get such treatment unfortunately. It’s like you said, they should have a
single factory focus on the Type R.

Funny enough, the PMC facility can handle the specialty models but they’re dedicated to Acuras only at the moment.

Maybe but numbers from 2020-2021 don't show that the be the trend. And if anything, small 4 cylinder cars have only become more sought after in the past year with the rising gas costs etc.

Bottom line is production will likely be higher than the doom or gloom and with 2.5 year production run folks will get their fill even if the US sees 1/2 - 2/3 the overall production of the fk8.
Has it been officially confirmed for the US market it will only be a 3 year run ?

last years of the car usually sells the least, first year the most when its new and fresh.

I’ve never wanted a car so bad in my life….. cannot wait until next week.

Also can’t wait for concrete details from my dealer. Even if they tell me it’s going to be a year, it’ll just be nice knowing something

Got an email from an ATL dealer today, the sales guy wanted to let me know they have a Type R coming in but they have no other information about it. Not even when it'll come in, they just now know they are getting one. They aren't taking deposits and won't decide on ADM until they get it on the lot. It definitely seems like some dealers are getting news today though.
