ditto... but I'm pretty sure they have the upper hard for now. Least a year or two.
They will have the upper hand for the entire production of the FL5. The FL5 will not be produced in anywhere near the numbers that the FK8 was produced.

Awesome! It must’ve looked even better in person!!!
It did! Albeit a little dirty. From the rear it looks really wide, the pictures I’ve seen never seem to show it properly. If people out there are going to throw additional wide body kits on this, they’ll be ruining the car (my opinion). It’s perfect as is. My only gripe is how big the wheel looks in the back because the brakes seem tiny in comparison, so much empty space, and these are 19s (and not 20s like FK8) thank goodness.
Aww man. I was hoping to see alcantara on the wheel. I know many prefer leather for ease of maintenance so this is nice too.

Looks like we get parking sensors.

Anything else you noticed? Back seat fabric? I can't recall other things US is not getting.
Sorry I didn’t have a lot of time to check it out, I didn’t even look at the back seats area (and now I’m annoyed as I really wanted to see the material for the backside of the front seats, will be carrying a kid in the back…). I was being supervised closely lol. What I did notice though was what appeared to be alcantara on the front door arm rests and center console, but that might already be known.

I guess we'll see, none of has a crystal ball. Fed rate increases usually isnt felt till 7months after. Banks are already tightening lending standards.

Production is likely to be higher than expected with 6k through april ramping to 10k per year world wide. Lots of folks with scare tactics on here. Lets wait for Honda to confirm numbers in the coming week.

Yes US specific, this allocation will only be the first batch and VERY few dealerships will receive more than one. Smaller dealerships that don’t move a lot of volume will not receive any at all.
Are you expecting 750+ units to move with this allocation, assuming 75% of dealerships are receiving at least 1?

Not a scare tactic, the production numbers are always subject to change but that’s what they have available at the moment, just providing perspective. Even if production ramps up to 10k after a year or 2. The total production numbers will be less than the FK8.

I can’t say for sure because that’s dependent on how many make it to Richmond before October 27th. Approximately 400 are there now with more on the way. How much more, we don’t know yet. Like @tuhroo stated things are a logistical nightmare right now.

What I can say for sure is that Honda was targeting above initial FK8 numbers for the FL5 launch but couldn’t meet that for obvious reasons. The social media response and dealer inquiries have exceeded expectations which has forced them to re-assess the launch(i.e. allocate even more resources to the FL5).

Bottom line is production will likely be higher than the doom or gloom and with 2.5 year production run folks will get their fill even if the US sees 1/2 - 2/3 the overall production of the fk8.

I like the idea of every dealership that is supposed to get one getting one before any particular dealer, regardless of volume, gets two. Just think it makes sense with how long the waitlists are on these things. I'm sure first in line folks at larger volume dealerships are hoping for the "we have these colors, which would you like?" but I think we are all going to be just getting whatever they assign.

Is there any process at all as to how dealers get assigned certain colors?

It’s plausible based on sequential comparable runs / batches that there will initially be around 1k out to dealers by late November. Question is do they keep the spigot open or do they accumulate another batch for late q1 as round 2.

In theory yes but who knows with the production woes.

How many Civic did Honda sell in 2022?
Honda sold 96,286 Civic in 2022. (From Jan - Sep 2022)
How many Civic did Honda sell in September 2022?
Honda sold 9,381 Civic in September 2022.
How many Civic did Honda sell in 2021?
Honda sold 263,787 Civic in 2021. In 2020, Honda sold 261,225 Civic. They sold 2,562 more units in 2021 compared to 2020 with a percent gain of 0.98% YoY.

Sales numbers are down because production numbers have plummeted. Hence the reason why all cars are being marked up, they are just harder to come by.

Honda will likely finish the year with 130,000 civics sold in 2022, that's half of what they sold in 2021. Production delays continue into 2023. The dealership I'm working with on an SI has seen one allocation in September (mine), and had 1 allocation in October. 2023 is not going to be a good year for civic acquisition.

I know that the Type R can't be compared to typical civic manufacturing but I'd be willing to bet almost anything that over the 3 year stretch the US will not see more than 17,000 vehicles, less than the 20k FK8s that the US were given.

Dealers have a small influence on the colors they receive but they don’t have total control on how the colors are distributed.
