The FL5 Civic Type R Wheel Spacer Reference Thread

Anyone on here running 10mm or 12mm spacers on stock wheels that can share their experience on whether or not driving characteristics changed and impact on torque steer? Understand that extended lugs are needed to do this. I’m reading too much about 15mm and above having an impact so I’m wondering where the cutoff is before it is negligible. Wheels are so tucked in that it would be nice to move them out even if it’s just a little.

Never thought I'd be here, because I never thought I would buy spacers, yet here we are.
Never Say Never Again.

1.) Car:
2025 Honda FL5 Civic Type R .

2.) Wheels, Front and Rear:
Honda (Modulo?) Forged Shark Gray FL5 Type R 19x9.5J , ET +60 .

3.) Tires, Front and Rear:
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, size 275/35ZR19 100Y . Bigger, heavier tire probably negates most of the benefit of the lightweight, forged wheel.

4.) Suspension:
OEM Honda FL5 Type R .
Suspension Damper Module:
OEM Honda FL5 Type R .

5.) Spacers, Front and Rear:
H&R Trak+ 15mm Wheel Spacers, Black .
Note:
Weight of the spacer along with weight of larger tire has got to be heavier per corner than heavy stock cast wheel + lightweight rubber band tire.
I have not measured, but we can just add the weight of an H&R 15mm spacer to the 51.4 pound wheel and tire combo to get overall weight per corner.
Gonna definitely be heavier than stock FL5 setup. Something to keep in mind.

6.) Clearance and Rub:
Front: Close to fenders, yet, so far, clear. I also have RokBlokz FL5 Rally Mud Flaps installed, which potentially closes the gap between each fender and the rolling rear of each tire. Just did over 600 miles round trip to Dallas and back home to San Antonio. No issues that I have seen or heard.

Rear: All Clear, but looks a bit tight for my preference. I'd prefer about a good half inch increaae to the rear springs, especially since I'll be keeping a full size (51 pound wheel + tire) spare in the boot. Personal preference.

7.) Wheel Studs:
Stock OEM FL5 Type R studs . Also stock FL5 lug nuts plus Honda McGard FL5 wheel locks.

Note the car is on a sloped driveway here, so the rear left corner is compressed.
The rear right corner is extended.

EDIT:
Overall weight of Honda Forged FL5 Type R wheel + Michelin PS AS4 in size 275/35ZR19... minus the plastic Honda center cap.

51.4 pounds.
Maybe 51.5 pounds with plastic center cap and Tyre Tote included?

Full Size spare and torque wrench in the trunk. Torque wrench gonna add a few extra pounds.

The blue wrap is a paint protection film (PPF) from Miracle Coat.
It is called Dory Blue, part # MC-211 Dory Blue.

The white roof, side mirrors, and underspoiler are a white vinyl from 3M.
I don't remember the part #... I think the color is called Satin White.

I'd like to know about this as well, mostly regarding slip on 10mm and 12mm spacers with custom lug bolts.

I am considering getting slip on 10mm front and 12mm rear, and installing longer lug bolts permanently. This should make swapping wheels easier than using the current bolt on H&R 15mm spacers, which I have to unbolt and remove in order to install my MITA Motorsports ET +45 wheels.
Then, when I want to install wheels that are ET +60... I have to bolt on the H&R 15mm spacers again, and then install the ET +60 wheels.
This ends up being double the amount of bolting / unbolting of lug nuts every time I want to swap wheels.

With 10mm and/or 12mm longer lug bolts permanently installed, all I would have to do is slip on the spacers and install the ET +60 wheels. Then when it's time to change... just slip off the spacers and install the ET+45 wheels.
I already purchased extended length (closed top) chrome lug nuts to go with my silver MITA Motorsports ET +45 wheels, in order to get a solid purchase on the nut with the included socket.

I don't know how much longer my chrome lug nut is than the OEM lug bolt, but with no wheel and no spacer, it does thread completely on to the bolt, so... maybe I'm already good? I'm guessing that my chrome lug nut leaves at least 10mm (and maybe more?) of open space from the end of the OEM lug bolt to the inside of the cap of the lug nut, but I dont know how to accurately measure this.
I'm just guesstimating.

Would you recommend the AFD 20mm spacers? any issues during install or any weird noises?
I was looking at Bonoss but it seems like they shipping from china and i dont want to wait that long lol

Yes, I'd recommend the AFD spacers in my experience so far. They seemed solid and machined well. AFD says they are made of 7075-T6 billet aluminum, which is Bonoss more expensive option of the two types they offer for the FL5.
And I believe mine shipped from California.

25mm all around. Oem wheels/tires.
H&R Sport .8 inch all around.
No rubbing under any circumstances so far.

Quick question: I know everyone here is running the Bonnos or something in the realm 15 mm, but I’m wondering if anyone has tried the 5 mm ones and is able to thread the lug back easily without it coming loose. I’m asking because on another car I had before, I ran one of those spacers that didn’t have lugs, and the lug nut came loose while driving since there wasn’t enough thread to hold the wheel, as I later found out.

Hey guys, need recommendations. I just finished installing the RS-R coils, and my friends suggested that I get some spacers. I’m looking into the H&R spacer. What MM do you guys recommend? I know the brand is high quality, but how does it handle? I’m planning to track the FL5 this year, and I would hate to ruin the handling with spacers.​
