I have the full sheet of torque specs and everything for reinstall, just curious if there’s any quirks I should be on the lookout for.

update: new clutch is in, everything went about as well as possible, though I have two extra bolts that I could not for the life of me find a home for. They were definitely minor though so I’m not particularly concerned. Car drives great going in for an alignment tomorrow.

Just make sure it doesn’t fall on you when it drops 😆

Or your dapper looking cat!
On a more serious note, I would drain the oil first to ensure it doesn’t spill out of the axle holes.
Yes very Dapper 😆

No quirks really. Just take your time. Make sure you have a 3 or 4 point engine holder, chain, and bolt that is strong enough to hold the engine up.

Obviously drain the trans oil and have fluid to refill it with.

I did my clutch 6 months ago and it was a simple job on quick jacks. Spent a day on it, maybe 8-9 hours for the whole thing.

May I ask why do you need to drop the trans on a fairly new car?
I’m asking because mine just developed a slight knocking sound on overrun and I’m waiting for Honda to get back to me (it’s done just under 29,000 miles).

Thank you, so far so good, using my dads shop because he’s got plenty of tools, just not the best mechanic myself.

I can’t lie I was being stupid and fried the fuck out of my clutch. Was hoping I’d be able to dump it in 2nd with the e-brake up like the good old days xD

How badly is it burnt? I know I've burned my clutch once or twice by holding it too long on a hill start. Didn't know you could destroy it that easily!

well, when I said I was being stupid, I wasn’t kidding. The way the revs moved were EXACTLY like a burnout, so I thought I was doing a burnout at 7k rpm for about 10 or so seconds until I realized there was no smoke. Pics of old clutch attached. So to be clear, the clutch was at 100% slip, at 7000RPM for 10+ seconds.

I’d like to note that this clutch was somehow fully functional and still served as my daily driver for ~1500 miles

Wow lol. What made you change it? Did it drive fine but just feel different or did you feel something catastrophic on that 2nd gear dump and just know?

Shudders when taking off in 1st gear, can also smell it burning when under 30%+ throttle.

Also deep down I think I did it on purpose so I had an excuse to get a light weight flywheel and a better clutch so I could do more performance mods.

What're you upgrading to? From what I understand the stock clutch is already pretty light and can handle more horsepower than the wheels can lol

Exedy Stage 1. Love them as a brand and everything I see says the stage 1 feels OEM but allows for a good bit more hp/tq
