I've seen this a time or two, and have exclusively kept stock of Wix filters in the shop for years now. I run them on all the personal cars and have UOA done on all of them each oil change so I'm comfortable sticking with them.
I too will only use Wix.

Be careful when buying oil filters and spark plugs from eBay and Amazon, there is a lot of fake Chinese parts out there.
Yea I know you gotta verify every single filter when you buy it in a pack. I use Amazon mainly for the ease of returns if they do mess up

Thankfully there are some dealers that carry the RTA-003 as well, which is where I bought them. But as long as the seller on Amazon is good and reputable, then it's generally fine. You might even find sellers on Amazon that are Honda/Acura dealers.

I have always purchased my Honda coolant, brake fluid, and DW-1 ATF from Amazon over the years. I also purchased all my PLM-A01 and some A02 filters from there. No issues (other than the QC on the A02 lol). But they were genuine.

But its always good to thoroughly check in case.

I wonder if this happens with Rockauto sometimes too. I got a couple of Wix filters from them years ago that were not right. There was some silicone chunks flaking off the diaphragm which I believe is normally rubber. That was the only time I’ve ever seen or heard about a bad Wix filter. I also got some bad KYB strut bearing mounts from them where the tolerances were way off.
There seems to be lots of counterfeit stuff out there so be cautious about those bargains!

FYI, my understanding (see below) is that the Honda OEM oil filter is just a re-labeled lower-end Honeywell-Fram filter.

I use Fram ultra synthetic oil filter (XG7317), which based on my research is one of the best filters out there, 99.7% efficiency @ 20 micron, highest dirt holding capacity, silicone valve. which makes it better than Mobil, Wix, Bosch, Purolator.

i prefer ebay and ordering directly from dealers. if you order through Honda's Dream Shop they charge you crazy shipping fees. usually you can get free shipping through ebay though.

You can always do "pickup" from your local dealer when ordering through Honda's Dream Shop.

I would like to know why some dealers are not in dreamshop, in my experience these dealers are not honest and try to sell parts over MSRP.
yea, they are part of the Carolina Hendrick dealership mafia

the service dept is great for a dealership. best I've ever used. they got like a 10-20% markup on parts compared to some of the other dealerships though.

I always buy straight from the dealer but online, just always buy 3 or 4 just to have. I once ordered from Amazon a couple but they looked iffy, maybe they were real, maybe not, did not want to find out.

However if you are in a pich and need an OEM filter same day, Walmart (yep thats right) sell OEM honda oil filters. I have used one (after the Amazon filters looked iffy I went there and gone one and looked legit, I don't think walmart is going to be selling fake stuff in their stores).

I always inspect the flter and so far they have looked good.

Yep, Autozone also carry OEM on their shelves. I have grabbed a couple from them once in the past.
