I'm confused on something. you got 4 2024 Type Rs that aren't listed on the website and are likely the only 2024s in the country?

or are these incoming units that will land at a later date?

Not to me...But I'll never tell any else how to spend "their" mula...
One question though? You drive a GTR right? What year is it? You do know its a recycled car from 2009 that was 70k brand new. How much did you pay for yours? Probably a type R too much for it I’m assuming.

And I’m happy for you that you like it. Even below msrp is still considerably more expensive that it used to be. Basically for the same car. So the 5k extra on a type R is just a really moot point. Aside that its greed from a dealer. But hey that is their job to rip you off.

What I’m getting at its that everybody in the industry does it. In your case Nissan was the one marking it up not the dealer. Honda did it on the FL5 too. Price went up considerably from the FK8. Its all a crapshoot for the consumer.

I hear what you are saying...and its up to the "consumer" to decide...This consumer has decided not to pay a AMD, ...I wanted a C8Z AMDs 75K or more...Not going happen and I'm a die hard Vette fan would have been my third one...so no... no ADMs for me...But I dont and wont belittle those that choose to...its a choice..........

yeah I agree, I hate ADM’s too. I refuse to pay them. But given the car and how hard it will be to find. Its so good out of the box that even with a 5k markup is worth it. I was lucky enough to only get a 1k markup and I was happy with the purchase.

By that logic, I suppose one could say the Type R is a recycled model from 2017 and that car was significantly cheaper.

It is, yet it has new sheet metal, wide body fenders that are molded and a different interior. Still honda marked it up more just like the gtr. So they are making more money. But from msrp to msrp no markups its about a 5k difference. Fk8 were around 38k brand new, fl5 is 43 and change. GTR money we are talking about the price almost doubling. From 70k to 120-130k. And its the same chassis with very minor upgrades and sheetmetal is the same.

But I did mention that all manufacturers do it. Its a trend, to make money without spending a lot on R&D. But nissan is notorious for this. Look at the 350z,370z and new Z. Basically the same car for about 20 years.

It's not just the manufacturers that are "making the markup" like you guys are saying. Inflation is a real thing and a big contributor to why the FL5 costs more than the FK8 did in 2017. A whole global pandemic and ridiculous money printing happened in this period of time. Everything is more expensive now.

Yeah its multifactorial, also resources have become more expensive.

5k above MSRP is a deal?....Ok...Such a "hot" saler that a salesman joins the forum to move product...Interesting...And yes 5k is better than 6k- 15k above...Buttttt its still way above MSRP...Happy Hunting car folk...
this pricing will continue til the stock market bubble pops, so don’t hold your breath. With all the new dollars being printed, I think this is the new normal. Too many dollars, not enough cool cars.

Your post inspired me to look it up, and interestingly, in 2022 in response to inflation, the Fed stopped quantitative easing (printing money) and switched to quantitative tightening.

https://www.richmondfed.org/publications/research/econ_focus/2022/q3_federal_reserve

But the economy has been more resilient than expected so it seems inflation has been tough to bring down, although it's come down quite a bit from last year.

All this doesn't change the situation for us though.

As long as peoples 401k’s are strong and home prices are elevated they have comfort in spending money. If either shoe drops it’ll come tumbling down. Home prices would be worse because anyone who owes big and is getting close to being upside down in their mortgage will offload second homes or investment properties.
