Pulled the trigger.
Final price was $51,2xx +TTL, so for the additional $6300 over MSRP I received window tint all around, all weather mats, cargo tray+organizer, wheel locks, shift knob, and the paint protection film. Essentially making it a 5k adm +1200 in accessories at retail cost. Best deal I have been able to find considering I got my #1 color choice, red.
Wow... in RED. I personally think you got one of the best deals! Red wasn't my color, but given it's the rarest and still very popular, it's great that they worked with you!

Congratulations, you got the rarest color. That's was a good deal regardless of what anyone wants to say about it.

I have a lead on a CW for MSRP +8k over. the 8K includes their exterior protection package(non negotiable), window tint(non negotiable), car cover, cargo tray, seat back protector, shift knob and wheel locks. It's a TX dealer PM for contact info only if you're serious and ok with potentially paying the 8k. I'm not sure how much they're willing to negotiate on the 8k since they just received the vehicle 2 days ago.

That's a good price IMO, especially if the ADM includes a little bit of something.

Honestly, that's not too bad and I would pull the trigger at that price (if the paint protection film is done well). Congrats. Every time these protection packages are added on to my quotes, they're like 7 grand+ for BS like "ceramic coatings" you know they bought for $12 off of amazon. Sounds like you got some useful stuff out of yours.

can anyone who works for a dealership explain what happens to cause a car to be held up in transport? Is the car sitting on the truck in a parking lot or something?

car has been delayed 3 times now while in transport, worried that when it finally gets here it’s going to have been subject to the elements for the past 3 weeks.

Until the others reply... very likely sitting on a train car, or waiting somewhere for more cars to come in so the truck can travel with a full load. yes, it's probably exposed to the elements. happened to the majority of us here. unfortunately, unless you're on the west coast by an entry port, the car will probably end up sitting somewhere until delivery.

Every situation is different.

It could be a transportation issue.

Quality control

Performing a change to the vehicle that may eventually result in a recall/stop sale recall.

This is all speculation...

These cars sitting in the elements for an extended period of time before it reaches the buyer is a foregone conclusion. No need to stress about it because we're all in the same boat and there's nothing you can do about it. FWIW, the condition of the paint was the worst I've ever seen on a new car I've purchased. It had 12 miles on the odometer and was a swirled out and scratched up mess in some places. Once in your possession I suggest focusing on a proper detail with adequate time spent on decon and paint correction at a minimum. Here's an example:

Brahman Honda of Palm Beach, FL. Has a
sonic grey and a CW type R. Both have 10k mark up and puts them at $48k +ttt. Dealer seems like they will negotiate and were very nice. I only went to see them. I was able to test drive the championship white one around the parking lot.

Delray Honda has 2 championship white ones. Both have $25k mark up. Really don't like the vibe there.

Yep. That corresponds with my experience. My car had about the same number of miles too, iirc. These cars are not delivered in covered (luxury) trailers and they’re coming from all the way across the pond. My detailer said they’ve had high-end vehicles, including Porsches, come in with similar paint contamination and swirl issues. It is what it is, and it is easily correctable by any competent detailer. Just expect it when you get the car. It’ll be fine.

Ditto, my detailer showed me a SF90 Stradale with paint swirls. Owner drove it over straight from the dealership. Some paint correction is expected even on new vehicles at 10x the price of a CTR.

What does a typical paint correction cost?
