Next test drive - Giulia Veloce and Giulia Quadrifoglio.
Looking forward to this as well! I test drove one in 2018, and it was interesting. The steering was a little bit numb IIRC, but the chassis felt tight, and the noise was good too. Visibility wasn't the best, yet also not the worst.

I'm as much of a honda fan boy as anyone here but dont take most of these suggestions too seriously, drive it for yourself. Ctr is not leaps and bounds better than a subaru or bmw. Allt of these guys are like kids on YouTube that hear one thing and go hard. Similar too the s2k fanboys, the cars slow asf but fun to drive. Probably the same feeling your going to get with the ctr
Have you been in a Subaru?! Their interiors are stuck in 2005. :p

And I'll take fun to drive over fast any day of the week.

Yes I've owned an sti and driven older stis. Regardless of the interior, they drive more raw than the ctr and have lower center of gravity due to the boxer layout making it more fun on turns. A ctr will never be more fun on turns but will take turns well for a fwd.

And if you want fun over fast, then the sti is way more fun lol, you ain't hooning a ctr.

A close friend owned an ‘07 STi, and I agree that they are fun, but they don’t really suit my driving style or personality. Not really one to hoon.

The only impressions I got from a stock STI was understeer for days + a crappy lagging engine. On top of that, if you look at it wrong ringlands decide to grenade or head gaskets vaporize themselves.

My friend built his 2011 pretty well, got it tuned by one of the best in the business (innovative). Stock turbo, 94 Oct basic stage 2 tune on AP. First day he took it to a track 2 laps in engine said bye bye.

Said it before, STI hard hard hard hard pass.

Well if you were born yesterday, you'd know they made it since for the US from early 2000 to 2021.

You must've had a bad example or drove a wrx bc sti has torque, especially after a tune. And I know plenty of tuned sti owners in Cali that still have their cars on stock blocks with no issues stage1 and 2 and a small handful that nlew their motors, usually the ones with lead foots.
But its also known that current ctr's that overheat after a tune, or going to the track after 1-2 laps which is very common, so they're pretty unreliable as well.

But overall I would choose the ctr>sti due to refinement and honda. But if I lived in snow state, sti all the way. I only chose the sti over the fk8 bc fk8=too ugly for my blood. But now that fl5 is out, my 17 sti got sold recently.

So b4 all of you condemn me, fl5>fk8>sti>any euro trash car ?

Subaru is engine challenged. The turbo four in our Ascent gave us a consistent 19 mpg even on the highway. That’s impressive. We rented a CX9 and got 27 mpg, and it was just as quick.

That info and a time machine would be very useful.

I’m not buying someone’s beat on STI, thanks. If I’m going to buy an 18 year old engine design I’ll get a 997.

I mean, I'm not going to debate how shit STI's are with you man. Just watch any YouTube who has ever built one. More often than not both EJ and FAs grenade. They are simply trash engines. They aren't reliable, make shit power tuned and unturned, have worse MPG than v8s and are horrible to work on.
Most of my friends came from Subarus, I'm not just saying things cause I don't like them.

The JDM crowd is hilarious imo. They harp on EDM cars with reliability issues but like Subarus. The hypocrisy is through the roof lmao. When EVOs are considered the more reliable of the 2 competitors it honestly says something imo lmao.

But to each their own I guess.

I'm not sure that most JDM fans would defend the Evo or Sti as reliable cars, but they certainly have (for some reason unbeknownst to me) garnered a lot of attention: probably because of the AWD wars in the 90s. Those two cars were frequently featured in games like Gran Turismo as well, where reliability wasn't a concern ?

I do remember driving an R34 GT-R like a family car in Test Drive 5, through their Edinburgh map ?

Haha fair enough, I guess it really depends which JDM crowd you are part of. Not many honda/toyota camps where I'm at. It's mainly subie/mistsu/Nissan guys. AWD + turbos mainly.

I don't disagree with you entirely, but wrx stis are very fun cars although evo would be better if they didn't discontinue it and have such ugly interiors.

Also my only experience with edm is a older a4 with a blown turbo that eventually blew again, and a 2001 328i with bad electricals where the ac cut in and out due to faulty fsu and external temp sensor. And they were always heavy feeling boats.

All my jdm cars had no issues but oil burn in most of my hondas. But I never did have oil burn issues in the edm cars ?

But re the main topic in case anybody cares, my backup would be a new gr86 or low mileage s2k since I already have a 2015 accord sport as a beater.

I guess my second option (not really a back up plan) would be a Core GR Corolla. As i have a deposit on both and if everything rings true (Lotto and limited supply). I might end up with nothing. As There is no guarantee from the dealer or the manufacturer. Just plain sad.

IDK about you guys, but aside from rust eating the first AYC/ACD pump (which was covered by warranty), our Evo has been completely problem-free. Definitely gave me the least amount of stress of any car I've owned before our ND2 (which we've only had for several months).

Just twiddling my thumbs until the mad rush for initial allocations are done, and hopefully there will still be an SGP left somewhere for us.
