Thanks for the reply. Really helpful. Your setup and pro tips are the most informative i've found so far. I wonder if AWE has taken your insights to heart and made some spec adjustments to the hangers if there's no reason to have them so long in the first place, I would probably get frustrated quickly, however, can't really argue with the number of people running this with success. Thanks again. The slip-fit joints are honestly fine. I have had 0 issues with them loosening or causing a problem.
I still think the AWE provides a great exhaust system. The only problem I've had with it is the nasty rattle caused by the overextended exhaust hangers that hang just under the center console area of the car. Over time, due to the slip-joints I suppose you could say, the exhaust extended to the rear of the car probably 1/4 - 3/4" (totally guessing) this allowed the exhaust hangers to rub and create an INSANELY bad rattle against the frame. I ended up discovering what the rattle was and trimmed the exhaust hangers short enough that it should not be a problem again. I did this with AWEs blessing (didn't want to void any warranties).
So as far as doing anything differently, I guess I would be prepared to know that's potentially going to be a problem, unless AWE addressed it. Other than that, I still have it on and don't plan on changing it.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks for the tip. Looking at Remark with more common exhaust flanges since I have experience with those and less so with slip fit (other than a motorcycle slip-on lol). Not sure if it's already been brought up because I didn't read through all five pages of this thread, but I'd strongly recommend an exhaust with bolt up flanges instead of an exhaust with a slip fit design.
Interesting. The price point reflects the design choice, but Remark utilizes flanges for only about $500 more and appears to be more robust in design and quality. Thanks for the food for thought.I'd have to agree on going with something that doesn't use slip fits. Every issue on awe is blamed on incorrect install by their customer service. If they used flanges then they would no longer be able to use this excuse to dismiss customer concerns like they do.
