The slip-fit joints are honestly fine. I have had 0 issues with them loosening or causing a problem.

I still think the AWE provides a great exhaust system. The only problem I've had with it is the nasty rattle caused by the overextended exhaust hangers that hang just under the center console area of the car. Over time, due to the slip-joints I suppose you could say, the exhaust extended to the rear of the car probably 1/4 - 3/4" (totally guessing) this allowed the exhaust hangers to rub and create an INSANELY bad rattle against the frame. I ended up discovering what the rattle was and trimmed the exhaust hangers short enough that it should not be a problem again. I did this with AWEs blessing (didn't want to void any warranties).

So as far as doing anything differently, I guess I would be prepared to know that's potentially going to be a problem, unless AWE addressed it. Other than that, I still have it on and don't plan on changing it.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks for the reply. Really helpful. Your setup and pro tips are the most informative i've found so far. I wonder if AWE has taken your insights to heart and made some spec adjustments to the hangers if there's no reason to have them so long in the first place, I would probably get frustrated quickly, however, can't really argue with the number of people running this with success. Thanks again.

Not sure if it's already been brought up because I didn't read through all five pages of this thread, but I'd strongly recommend an exhaust with bolt up flanges instead of an exhaust with a slip fit design.
Thanks for the tip. Looking at Remark with more common exhaust flanges since I have experience with those and less so with slip fit (other than a motorcycle slip-on lol).

I'd have to agree on going with something that doesn't use slip fits. Every issue on awe is blamed on incorrect install by their customer service. If they used flanges then they would no longer be able to use this excuse to dismiss customer concerns like they do.
Interesting. The price point reflects the design choice, but Remark utilizes flanges for only about $500 more and appears to be more robust in design and quality. Thanks for the food for thought.

I will definitely admit, if AWEs was flanged I would not have had my issue. With that being said, I don’t think slip on is as doom and gloom as it’s being made out to be, I can certainly understand wanting to avoid it! Can’t blame people. I probably would have second guessed if I was more educated from the beginning. If the price was 500+ for the “next level” I probably would have still picked AWE.

Good luck with whatever you choose! It’ll be better than stock for sure.

I had a slip fit save my life once. I rode passenger with a guy for some track tips in his Camaro, and he was hitting curbs that he shouldn’t have hit…aggressively, so much so, that his slip fit let go and half of the exhaust dropped to the ground and we had to pit. He fixed the exhaust and on his very next session he locked his brakes on the front straight at 140 and went straight into a tire wall. He lived because he had 6 point harnesses. The car was destroyed. I thank the slip fits for getting me out of that death trap.

My only regret is kind of wish I would have went with the Titanium offering from Remark just because I like the purple Ti tips . But the SS version has wider tips which I like more and at almost half the price and it sounds really good as is .

slip fit for the win, jezuzzzzzz, glad you weren't on that car. I have been with an instructor that was being overly agressive for no reason at all, not sure he was trying to show of or what because his lap times were trash lol

I think there are better slip fit exhausts than others, if a choice yes flages are better and that is that but there are decent slip fit exhausts.

MXP is flanged, valved, 304 stainless, Helmholtz-resonated Apexi copy for $1200

what’s the AWE selling point again? 3 tips?

Biased cause I have it, but it seems like there is not much competition at that price point.

Edit: I also like the Ballade Sports, sacrifice the valve for titanium, and has a nice extra diffuser cover option:

The only thing that was attractive from the AWE (I don't have it but considered it) is the 3 tip that fit perfectly flush. Very few exhausts do these, most are missing the mark with the tip fitment.

Sound seems already too.

Beautiful Burnt blue Ti tips to bad they look like straws😳
I love the burnt Ti in other examples. I had quad 3.5” tips on my WRX, but your setup is so clean, especially for the cost difference ($1795 vs $2995).

I visually love the Remark triple tip setup which has 3, 4.5” double wall tips. Though $800 more for one extra tip is hard to swallow when your dual tip looks so good and probably sounds a bit more my style (i.e. rowdy).

Does anyone have experience with Invidia? They’ve been around for a long time and their offerings look kinda great.

I may be able to pay homage to my roots with some sweet burnt Ti after all.

11th Gen Honda Civic Who’s running a AWE touring exhaust on there FL5 ? IMG_0685

Edit to add: Get a load of that rust on the midpipe. The car only saw two NY winters at that time. Was fun reverting to stock for my FL5. Boy I'm in for it this winter leaving my AWD lol.

Thanks Brother ! Sweet exhaust on your WRX 💪
I almost bought the Remark Ti but I couldn’t justify the price differential. Yes the SS dual tip does sound really good especially after adding the PRL HVI definitely woke it up even more .

Have had no issues with my AWE. Quality unit. Great sound with stock set up. Deep but not tinny or loud. The anti-drone technology on the Touring helps but doesn't eliminate it like AWE would like you to believe. Nevertheless, IMO it is one of the better sounding exhausts available for the FL5. I also found it odd that some of the pricier exhaust options don't even sound that much different from stock. GL with the search

I've had both MXP and AWE. IMO, AWE selling point is the three tip. I think I was one of those people that had a defective muffler...because it had a weird rattle in it I could never figure out.

As for MXP, it sounded really good, comparable to Apexi, the valve was one of the better ones I've seen (it didn't have much play to it, preventing rattle in the valve). The only thing I didn't like, was how it looked from directly behind. Perhaps some different hangers would have fixed my issue (it appeared to sag too much at the muffler...I tried adjust the hangers before tightening the bolts, but it didn't fix my issue).

Yea, I noticed the Helmholtz made it sag more on that side. I swapped in some poly hangers that have an offset center hole, flipped up on passenger side to counter the weight.
