Baby steps. By that I mean I revel in the fact that my 3 year old son says “our car” when he sees a FL5 on tv (YouTube video) or when he wants to play with one of my 1:64 toy car model sitting on the shelf.

My wife can care less. Whenever I try to explain to her what I’m doing/did to the car, she just asks me, does it make you happy? My response is always yes. She just says, that’s all that matters.

My girlfriend treats everything that I do to the car with mild neglect for the most part lol. She hates riding in the car, and my driving scares her because she says I don't brake as soon as she would. Conversely, I get into her car, and understand why she needs brake pads all of the time.

My 5yo daughter frequently says hello to the white car when she comes home from school lol. I'm trying to get my 23yo out to VIR to do some ride alongs or drive. She has a hard time with the speeds but I know she would enjoy it otherwise.

She also hates how I drive but always wants me to drive I also take care of her car for her and if I did not wash her car it would never once have been washed. You are in one of his videos...he's done a lot, but a lot of it is just to turn a GTI into a track car. They really are daily use hatchbacks from VW, especially that gen.

Ahhh this feels like a personal attack haha. I spent a stupid amount on my MK7 GTI, exceeding what I paid for the car used. It's crazy how much better the stock FL5 is in most aspects (aside from cooling evidently). The GTI has a few perks from the daily driver perspective, but performance wise, FL5 takes the cake any day.

This time I'm definitely going to take the less is more approach and focus on the best mod: driver mod.

lolol...Trust me I was in the same boat. I had a MK7 6 Speed GTI, then a MK7 DSG GTI Sport and did a IS38 and coils, and then a MK7.5 R DSG that I went SCCA Tuner Class on. Did everything but the front and Rear LSD because they weren't out and when they came out they were some crazy quotes, so I Bailed.

yep...in my Golf R i was doing 144.5 mph on the front and back straight with the OEM turbo. BUT I never knew that while driving....key is just to look ahead, look for your markers and point of references and the speeds will not feel that fast.
