After calling to some out of state dealers.....CA has surprisingly the lowest ADM ask, probably due to volume.
AZ and UT asking $15k adm plus hidden fees (2,3k ceramic coating was the most insane I heard).
You need to go further east

Just wanted to add my Great Experience with Dick Brooks Honda in Greer. My sales person was Nik Jenson (direct Line 864-395-0913). Great dealership, great guy. Would highly recommend.

My previous new car purchase was a 2017 Shelby GT350. At the time I lived in SoCal, so I knew the potential nightmare of purchasing a "Special" car.

I also had just moved to South Carolina and was aware that MSRP SHOULD no longer be a problem for the Type R, several years into production.

I was not ready to buy a car yet, but wanted to start considering a purchase. Honda's website showed inventory at my local dealer. I went to my local dealer to take a look, however this was inventory in transit.

This is where I met Nik. I explained that I wasn't quite ready to buy a Type R. I had to buy a home first, but would be interested in within the year. Nik explained, "Unfortunately, the ones in transit, were already spoken for. But if I get your name and number, I can call you when we get one in so you can look at it."

The important part of the conversation happened when I explained that I just moved from SoCal and my last car was a 2017 Shelby GT350. I recounted the story of every dealership in SoCal wanting 10k or more on top of MSRP. I explained, that I took a $360 air flight to Calamith Falls, Oregon to pick one up at MSRP.

His reply surprised me, "Oh, well we don't do that here. We sell them for MSRP. We are a family run business and want to make sure our clients are happy". Holly crap, no games, no BS like... "well you know this car is special, and we have 20 people that would buy this today at MSRP" and other BS stories.

Over the next months, I got a couple of texts "A White one is here until the owner picks it up if you want to look at it". Then "There is a Sonic Gray one that just came in, but the buyer isn't ready. Do you want it? It will be just MSRP.", but I wasn't ready.

Several months go buy and I finally find a home and review my finances. There are funds for a car. I go into see Nik. "What does it take to get a white one?". His reply, "A $1,000 non-refundable deposit and you go on the list." We reviewed the list. Number one and two want Red and number three and four want white and we have two whites in transit.

It is possible that the dealer might swap out the white for red from other dealers, but also not likely (red are limited). Then between numbers three and four, one of them isn't quite ready to move right away.

So you might get a white one in 4-6 weeks or 4-6 months. While this wasn't a very clear cut answer it completely made sense considering the people on the list and the supply. The transparency of the situation couldn't have been better. It is what it is.

Two months later. I have a CW Type R at MSRP with no BS fees and no add ons.

I got to meet the Tech that might do any work on the car. He is a Type R nut with loads of experience with the car. He spend about 15 mins showing me his personal car. An Acura Type S which he is in the process of taking from 400hp to 600 hp. He knows the car and the potential mods.

Previously, I would NEVER bring my car to a dealership for service. However, in this instance I would completely trust the dealership and the mechanic that would work on my car.

This purchasing experience was unlike anything I have experienced with a dealer in Los Angeles. Straight forward, upfront, helpful and genuinely nice. Fortunately this seems to be a consistent tread when comparing LA to South Carolina.

Nice story !....I gave up on CA dealers and went all the way east as few recommended here. I was able to purchase one with no markup + shipping which will cost me less than buying any of the options in CA.

Its just very frustrating dealing with dealers here and I hope a new reality comes to the car business in general around the state.

Very excited for this one, it might take an extra week but I'm happy anyways.

I find it amazing, the arrogance of SoCal dealers. Or maybe the stupidity of some SoCal buyers?

Just yesterday there was a new video from the youtube channel "Deliverd", where he is trying to buy a Type R in SoCal. One dealer wanted 23k above MSRP with the average dealer quoting + 10k.

Do dealers really think, that a buyer can't wait a week, ship a vehicle or fly and drive back home, to save 23k?

In most instances, I think the dealer just want a little "eye candy" on the showroom floors to sell other cars.

Congrats, you ignored the greedy cali dealers and got one at msrp. Some ppl overpay , others only price check in Cali, not where others say there are msrp in midwest & then make dumb irrelevant threads about getting another car +10K instead of FL5 which is apples to oranges.

Southern California, SGP at $2K over MSRP, no dealer installed options/accessories.

Their original side sticker (with crap accessories and ADM) was over $72,300 if I recall correctly.

Airport Marina Honda, Nick Ball was my salesperson, I communicated with him for a few months, until today he would not go under $5k.

today got an email asking if I agree to $2k over. jumped on the deal, as I was just about to send Nik at Dick Brooks a non-refundable $500 to reserve one at MSRP, but then it would have cost me about $1,500 to ship it to California.

I was talking to the same dealer at one point but they wouldn't budge from $5K markup.

same, talked to them for over six months, every few months, and indeed, till this weekend they would not budge under $5K markup.

but this weekend, just before I was about to send $500 non-refundable deposit to Dick Brooks in SC to get on their waiting list, I got an email saying that they were willing to do $2K over (and no dealer installed crap). so I jumped on it, since it was only about $500 above what it would take to deliver from SC (and no waiting list, and not buying sight unseen)

they still have a CW one, but might not be willing to extend the same deal. apparently they did not want to have two CTR on the lot...

Just want to give my feedback on Honda East Cincinnati. I just picked up my car this past weekend and a couple of points to cover:

1. MSRP and nothing else.
2. No pressure for warranties, etc. They did a very, very soft sell for things like tire protection, etc. But it was basically just an ask once, no? Ok, moving on.
3. They went out of their way to find a red one for me.
4. The entire process was painless, got pre-approved through them (the only stipulation for getting the msrp) and their rate was the same as my credit unions, and I was in and out in about 1h.
5. Gary was great, stayed in contact the whole time, texted me updates, seemed as excited as I was to pick it up.

100% great experience with them. I'd suggest them to anyone willing to travel for MSRP and a great dealership. Also they have been doing MSRP since they got their first FL5, love to see it.

All west coast is a trash heap, you will need to travel to the midwest to get msrp.
