The Raptor R I have on order has a $50k markup on average. That makes the $3k I paid for the CTR look silly. Crazy times we are living in!!!

This was very much unplanned/unexpected, but I traded my Black/Black '24 Integra Type-S for a CW FL5 at Roush Honda in Westerville, Ohio for MSRP + $2k in PPF & Paint Correction (both already completed before they called) and 2 accessories of my choosing (trunk tray and lighted door sills).

I got the ITS at MSRP on 6/19 and my trade-in value was ~$2900 less than what I paid, but after seeing the FL5 in person, I felt the build quality was substantially better in the FL5 vs the ITS. Should I ever want to switch back to the ITS, I suspect I'll have a much easier time finding one and believe this was probably my only chance to get the FL5 in my top color choice at MSRP (at least in the near future/with a relatively modest trade-in hit).

What is your take on them now that you have driven both?

Good question...

  • Suspension/NVH - I'll admit I'm easy to please, but I notice very little difference in ride quality or cabin noise between these cars. I set aside money for an ADS module swap... but I don't see the need at this point. We'll see when the weather gets cold and all-seasons go on.
  • Exhaust - Obviously the ITS has great OEM exhaust note/features... but there's a lot of personal taste that comes to exhaust, and plenty of aftermarket options in a wide price range. I'd rather start with mild and choose my own adventure, but that's just me.
  • Stereo - I'm no expert, but the two sound systems are almost indistinguishable, IMO.
  • Power/Performance - I'm still within the break-in period, but I expect these cars to be virtually identical for daily driver performance.
  • Seating - The FL5 has much better seats, and that's that. I traded a '23 A-Spec + Tech for the '24 ITS and the seats are virtually identical between those cars. The Integra has good seats and they're heated, the FL5 has great seats even without heat.
  • Looks - Both cars look great and I wouldn't call either of them sedate, but I find the FL5 (with its bucket seats and large wing) brings my inner child a lot of joy.
  • Quality - This was the big differentiator to me--the FL5, when compared side by side with my ITS, felt like it was a more substantial/unique product built by more capable hands. I had a handful of rattles/buzzes in my ITS from Day 1, and nothing like them (yet) in my FL5. Granted, my FL5 had a paint correction done before I ever saw it, but even the panel gaps/fitment seem much better.
These are two cars made for different buyers with a slight overlap between the two (people like me), and I'm glad I got to own both, even if that luxury cost me a bit.

I expected this outcome! Looks like you performed quite a bit of due diligence before moving forward! Good for you. And I appreciate your thoughts comparing them. Enjoy the car in good health. Any plans for the FL5?

Ya know... if I can just keep my son from dropping a bicycle on it for the next couple of years, I'd be pretty pleased. ?

I'll be doing tint soon (Suntek Ceramic, 50% windshield, 20% all around), getting a red hypersuede rear seat cover, and all-season tires that fit the OEM wheels. From there, I can spend the winter looking for a summer wheel setup I like. I'll probably do a break-in of 1,250 mi, and it'll take me until April or so to hit it.

I only waited the 600 miles for break-in before I had to see what the car has haha

Congrats! I picked up the other championship white one at Roush a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it so far.

Very nice! I’m assuming you worked with Cameron also—he said something like, “This Type-R buying experience is going to be more enjoyable than anywhere else in the entire country…” and I’ll be honest, I kind of let it pass assuming it was just a gimmick… but I have to give it to them, that was a legitimately pleasant buying experience.

I worked with Lee. We worked with him in the past for my wife's CR-V as well and had a great experience so I reached out him a little over a year ago to get on the list. I also contacted just about every dealership in Ohio and a few other states where we have friends or family and it was exhausting to say the least. With Roush it was super easy and just required patience until they got the color I wanted.
