Tell them you are super close to a deal, but you have to see the mudguards in person as you are on the fence about them in particular. When they cannot produce them, tell them to pack sand. Ahhhem… that was my 20 year old self talking, sorry.

FYI- dealer wheel locks (McGard), nitrogen filled tires are worthless.
Trunk tray and rubber floor mats are -meh.

ProPack is whatever value you place on that package.

Their window tint, ceramic and PPF is better off left to an installer of your choice, if you desire those extras.

I know the CA market is different compared to most. Shipping one from out of state can be $1K to $1.5K. The most you should pay frok a dealer in CA before normal CA taxes and fees should be MSRP + the cost of shipping from out of state. With the end of the year coming, dealers might be willing to deal more. I got mine at the end of 2024 after watching a youtube video of a CA guy who bought one for MSRP in OH. I did an internet inquiry from a dealer I was familiar with being originally from OH. They gave me a quote of $44,396.73, $15 title, $20 registration, and $387 doc fee. I gave them a $1K deposit on Dec 29, I flew in from TX on Jan 1st, took delivery on Jan 2, started driving back Jan 3rd. I paid sales tax in TX. I don't know if they have any in stock, but it was Ken Ganley Honda in North Olmsted. Good luck.

I've been shopping around for a new Type R in California. All are pushing dealer-added accessories and mark-up on top of MSRP. I'm not paying mark-up but I'm wondering what these accesories are truly worth. I'm thinking these accessories can't be more than $1,500.

PRO-PACK (all-weather floor mats, trunk tray, wheel locks, door edge guards, mud guards) - Dealer ask is $2,895 but probably worth about $400.

PLATINUM CARE ( Covers, Wheel & Tire, Dent&Ding, Windshield Chip, Key Replacement, Paint Protection ) - Dealer ask is $995 but probably worth about $100.
PPF - Dealer ask is $2,795 but probably worth $500.
CERAMIC WINDOW TINT - Dealer as is $995 but is probably $500.
NITROGEN - Dealer ask is $395 but is probably $1.
Dealer also asking $9995 mark-up.

After all is said and done I'm thinking a CW FL5 with these accessories is about $49,000. Is this a good ballpark? Of course, MSRP is still the gold standard.
I'm sorry, what?! They're charging $395 for nitrogen?!? 🤣

The air around us is already 70-80% nitrogen, so that should be free. If you have a CostCo card you can use their inflation stations at their store for free if you really want nitrogen.

You're pretty much getting fleeced for almost $15K with all the BS add-ons and markup. This is definitely a "deal" I'd run from.

Pro-pack - It'd be best if you assigned a value to the stuff you actually want from this group. Personally I wouldn't want to spend more than $500 on this stuff. And if the door edge guards
that are plastic tell em you want them removed.

Platinum Care - Consider whether aftermarket wheels are in your future and whether the roads in your area are good/bad. Plenty of stories about owners killing these rims and tires on bad roads. Lifetime ding correction and windshield replacement sounds nice, especially if it is transferable. I wouldn't want to pay for it but assess your tolerance for something that could pay for itself on the first claim without impacting your insurance rates.

PPF - Definitely not only worth $500, but I still wouldn't want it.

Ceramic Window Tint - Find out what kind of film they used and take a look at the job they did. Were you going to tint it anyway? I just bought my wife a new Lexus and they used a pretty good film. Negotiated it out of the selling price but will keep it on and match the front windows to it.

Nitrogen - LOL

I don't know where in SoCal you are but there are at least 29 FL5's on lots within 80 miles of San Diego. That is a TON of inventory compared to earlier this year. No better time to buy than now. Calculate what you're willing to pay for and be firm. Either you'll get a deal done or you won't and it won't be the end of the world.

Good luck.

When I purchased my car at Airport Marina Honda in Los Angeles, the side sticker, with $20K ADM and all the dealer installed crap ($2k KARR alarm, $2k paint & fabric protection, $900 Safecat, whatever that was), totaled over $72,000.

I purchased it for $49,500 which was $2,000 over MSRP+Dest&Handling (the same logic as someone mentioned above: I got an MSRP at North Carolina dealer, but getting the car to California would have cost about the same)

They did not remove any of the crap they installed, all they did was deactivate the alarm system, and let me keep the paint/fabric protection and the safecat (whatever that was...)

No negotiation was involved. they texted me with the $2K over offer.

I'm back! ...Almost. I sold my 2020 about a year and a half ago for capital to buy a mom SUV for my wive and I've been jonesing for a fun drive ever since (I took her very broken in 2013 basic Civic). I just put a deposit down on a BB FL5 slated for delivery at the end of January. I'm getting it at MSRP, and I'll say I was shocked at how many FL5's in a 150-mile (Minneapolis) radius were listed at or slightly above sticker.

I'm excited to have 3 pedals again, this is the longest I've gone without since I was 16

Thank you,

I did a quick internet search

SafeCat is a dealer-installed catalytic converter protection system developed by Auto Prime Financial Services, marketed through automotive dealerships in the United States. The system costs approximately $299–$500 and includes up to $6,000 in reimbursement coverage for theft-related repairs or replacements, subject to terms like proof of theft and registration in a national database. The etching is done by applying a perforated stencil decal over a cleaned surface, then using an acid etchant fluid to corrode the metal through the perforations. A sealant is applied afterward to protect the etch. The process takes 10–15 minutes.

Since I did not pay for it, mine is probably not registered. I'll take a look next time I am under the car.

Precisely, stealing the CAT off of a FL5/FK8/DE5 is relatively a time consuming process, it's rare for these cars. It's alot more prevalent with V6 Hondas.

Hello I am new to the forum. (Previous 911 owner) I picked up my FL5 at 1k over MSRP I am located in So Cal. I was ok with it at the time because of the shipping cost if buying out of state its basically a wash. However I do hear people are getting less than MSRP. Also to note if you are in So Cal I think dealers are starting cave on the mark up. I didn't have to try to hard to get 1k over and I think if I continued to press and cross shop I could have done a little better.

I didnt get MSRP I paid 1k over but I think I could have done better if I pressed harder and had 2 dealers compete more. I bought my car from Costa Mesa Honda (autonation) but I had the same 1k over MSRP from Downtown LA Honda.
