Alpine Type R is the way to go@Icehawk I'm looking to get the CDT 2 Ohm speakers myself. Any recommendation on what you'd replace the 8" subwoofer with?

Would this fit in the factory sub housing?
It’s not a direct bolt in unfortunately, but the work required to fit it is minor.Would this fit in the factory sub housing?
It's between the Alpine and the RF, going to look into it this week.Who's going to try it for us all![]()
Yeah, there really is no bass at all, the rest sounds fine to me.I like the sound in my car overall but the lack of bass is something that disappoints me. I'll probably start researching the FK8 boards for a drop in replacement that doesn't require an external amp.
My 2017 Tacoma sounded better with the factory JBL system but I realize that in the Civic it's quite a bit further away.
Interesting. Did the front door soundproofing help address some of the road noise? And was it easy to do DIY?Hi from the UK. The Type Rs over here do not have the Bose option available (even though standard Civics do!) and the stock audio is pretty terrible. I had mine upgraded as a stage 1 setup with an Audison amp, Audison front door and A pillar speakers plus an Eton 10" sub under the passenger seat and a LOT of front door soundproofing. It now sounds pretty epic and the bass (depending on how you set the sub controller which is mounted discretely) could be fairly ludicrous should you wish..... Haven't done anything with the two rear door speakers (which is all the UK cars come with).
It would definitely not have been easy to do DIY: fortunately a friend of mine runs a well regarded installation company who I trusted to work on the car. The soundproofing has helped with the road noise for sure. I think the rear doors could do with doing to help further with that - the difference when you knock the rear is it sounds like a tin can and the front you get a solid thud. We also removed the noise module that generates the fake engine sound as I personally can't stand that. It could have just been disconnected but to ensure no rattles they just removed it as it can be reinstalled if necessary. I have a Milltek non res exhaust and the sound from that is far more enjoyable than that fake noise (well, in my opinion anyway!)Interesting.
