bought these. In 18X9.5 +38. Suspension is stock at the moment I’m considering going spoon springs. I need help tho! What tire size do I go with and what tire brand I really want to run 275 but don’t want them to rub and I don’t want to deal with camber modifications. Thanks 🙏

Had the chance to borrow my buddy's set of wheels off his ITS. Pleasantly surprised with the wheel and tire combo on the FL5. Wheels are Gruppe A08R in 18x9.5 +38 and tires are Conti Extreme Contact Sport 02 in 275/35

I was most surprised by how good this color combo and especially the polished lips look on this car. Coming from the VW stance world of the early 2000s where every slammed GLI had to have BBS RS's, I didn't think polished lips would be right for this car. I was wrong. Love these.

Also surprised by the tires. I went for 275 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on my CE's for the more squared off sidewall and performance for street, the Conti's sidewall looked bubbled in pictures to me. In person the Conti' ECS02's mounted on the Gruppe wheels looked really good and every bit as wide and aggressive. I actually liked them better aesthetically than my MP4S. Didn't test them performance wise but just by looking at the treads, MP4S are much sportier. Interestingly, when compared side by side the Conti's sat about 1/4" to 1/2" shorter overall than the Michelin's of the same size. Which probably also helped the aesthetics of the car as whole with these on. The Conti's offer a little more comfortability over the michelins not that the michelins are uncomfortable.

Enjoy.

Track setup:
Enkei TS-5 18x9.5 +45
Falken Azenis RT615K 265/35/18
Eibach Pro Kit Springs

Drove 250 miles on the RT615s they are loud at first but not bad. Fine for street if you have an exhaust it'll drown out the road noise anyway. But this Offset/tire/ride height combo leaves decent wheel gap that doesn't look great.

Street:
Volk Racing CE28N-Plus 18x9.5+38
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S 275/35/18
Eibach Pro Kit Springs

This offset/tire/ride height combo fills out the fender nicely. Certainly isn't super low.

Looks like you found the previous post

I wish I never put them on my car

I'm on Eibach pro kit springs with the strut pins pulled. sitting at about -2 up front and rears are about the same.
TBH, they look better on your car than his. You could easily sell your ce28 wheels, pick up a set of these and STILL make out net positive...hahaha.

I agree with you. But I couldn't copy a close friend's setup like that, especially since he lives one town over

Those Gruppe A08R are chef’s kiss 👌.
They’re also working on an 18x10 +40.
I can’t wait for those.

Apex wheels ML-10RT in 19x9.5 +45 on stock suspension and tires. Might lower it soon on swift springs.
Couldn't wait for better pictures to post as this was in the tire shop parking lot. Love how they fit oem center caps and 64.1mm bore.

Hey guys, I'm really wanting to get Enkei PF06 wheels for my FL5 Type-r but they only seem to come in the following sizes for 5x120 -18x9 +28 or 18x9 +42 (which wont be aggressive or have any concave at all)
My question is would I get the 18x9 +28 to fit? I was thinking being a 9inch wide it may work without having to do much camber adjustments.
I thought I'd ask to get some advice before outlaying the cash to purchase and they don't fit

Those come in the 19x9.5 +45. I’ve really wanted to see how they look on a FL5 but can’t find any pics of them installed.

I do think in the 18s, they will look awkward on the FL5. The lip and spoke design will make them look smaller than they are.

Welcome to the Forum.
Is your FL5 on stock suspension and camber? If so, (I think) the Enkei PF06 in 18X9.0 ET+42 would be a great fit, and look good.
Super aggressive? No.
A good fit? Yes.
I also think that perhaps the wheel in ET+28 is likely to poke outside the fender a good bit more than most people would like, and could cause its own unique rubbing issues.

I am on MITA Motorsports FKS wheels sized 18X9.0 ET+45, which is just 3mm more tucked than your proposed ET+42, and these wheels are almost flush.
With my current Pirelli P Zero 275/45ZR18 "Fat Tyre" selection, the setup is even more flush.

*** DISCLAIMER: I do NOT recommend a 45 sidewall on the FL5. It is a bit too meaty and will definitely rub. I did this for science, and I found the limit of the FL5's wheel wells. I am definitely sizing down to a 275/40R18 tire next time around. ***

Here is a link to "Civic Unslammed", where I invite all interested Civic owners to post about taking Civics to a "higher level"...

A few photos of my FL5 with stock suspension and camber, on the MITA Motorsports FKS 18X9.0 ET+45 wheels and Pirelli P Zero 275/45ZR18 tires.

Once again, my setup rubs not because of the wheel offset, but because of the sport utility crossover Maxx Chonk size tires I installed.

I think that with the Enkei PF06 in 18X9.0 ET+42 on either a 275/35ZR18 or 275/40ZR18 size tire, you will not have issues... other than, due to increased tire diameter, your speedo will definitely be telling you sweet little lies.
The ET+28 offset, however, looks like a bit of a risk. It is 14mm (about 1/2 inch) more poke than the ET+42.

That Enkei PF06 is a great looking wheel, and I would love to see what you do with your car.

Edit:
It does have a bit of a rally look to it as well... just sayin.

Cheers.
