Long time lurker. Saw an opportunity yesterday to argue about engine oil. So I finally registered. No bickering yet, but as soon as that hrc oil drops in the spring it’s gonna be on

anywho. Nice to be here. Here’s a few pics of my type r-ish. Got her July 15, a few months ago

so far, mods include the prl intake y’all don’t shut up about. Q300 exhaust but deleted its resonator for a 3ā€ in and out megaphone, the copper oem wheels, the thingy to lock the obd port that’s way overpriced but y’all recommend to everyone and currently on week 5 or 6 of waiting on pwr to send me the damn intercooler.

Maybe you should just leave it stock, you may be happier.
That’s where I messed up. I thought the s was slower than the r so I started modding. Then I raced a stock r. Was confused. Googled it. And discovered the s makes more power from 2k rpm to redline. Didn’t believe it. So kept researching.

And honestly the whole thing left me confused. What a weird decision Honda and Acura made

also my experience with pwr got me a bit jaded. Sorry bro. I’ll explain everything once I get my intercooler. I for one won’t ever purchase another pwr product ever again. May just sell it as soon as it comes in. Even if I take a small loss. But yeah, sorry. Didn’t mean to be a dick. Except for the oil part. I’m down to fight over oil.

Seriously. Sounds like he’s being forced to do something he doesn’t want to

I've owned both cars. The small bump in power of the Type S is so minor it doesn't really register in my experience.

Same. Till I race an r that’s the only time I’ve noticed it. The second both cars get tuned it’s a non topic tbh since they’d make the same power and all. Just weird how the s has a bump in power and very little if any tq reduction in the first two gears

I liked that the pwr didn’t require any modification in the front bumper. No need to relocate the sensor. Etc. the price just hurt like a mf. It is not cheap. But I saved and saved.

Got on pwr’s site and purchased it. No warning that it wasn’t in stock. No expectations as to when one can expect it. Etc

a week goes by. I got some help finding their number (I’m dyslexic and don’t read well) and I call. Being told it won’t be available till sometime in November. Also, if I don’t want the pwr logo sprayed on, it’s 100$!

so I payed the 100. Gave it about a month. Now it’s the beginning of November. I’m told it’ll ship on the 17th, maybe or should at least

the 17 was two days ago. Yesterday I was told it will ship by the end of this week

the whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth

I absolutely hate it when I see the 2step folks on here. Offering their terrific customer service. And meanwhile pwr is just…. Like that šŸ˜‚

in the end it’s my fault. I should’ve called pwr first and made sure it was in stock. But damn they should’ve set expectations on their site. Or at least on the purchase confirmation email

Overall, my experience with PWR was disappointing, and I’m not convinced it was an isolated case. Their products are excellent, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired—a red flag for me, especially when thinking about future support if something goes wrong.

The delivery timeline wasn’t the issue. I asked upfront and was told the FL5 intercooler was made to order with a 4–6 week lead time. Fair enough. It actually arrived in just under four weeks, which I appreciated.

The real problem was how they handled the logo. I didn’t want the logo at all but wasn’t willing to pay an extra $100 to forego it. The compromise, discussed verbally and confirmed in writing, was that they would paint the logo black. Simple, clear agreement. My plan was to decide later if I wanted to remove the paint as black may blend better.

Of course, it shows up with the logo painted bright red. When I reached out, the same person who agreed to the black logo suddenly treated it like no big deal and wouldn’t take responsibility. They initially suggested I pay to ship it back so they could remove the logo, and they’d cover return shipping. The vendor I purchased from ultimately stepped up and agreed to pay for shipping back to PWR. Hard pass. I could already see how that would play out: they’d damage the fins while removing the paint, send it back to me, and then shrug off my concerns because ā€œthat’s just what happens when removing the logo.ā€

So now I’m stuck fixing the issue myself. Great product, but truly awful customer service.

Oh dang. Not for nothing but a lot of track rats I know here parrot the same experience with pwr. Frankly, not a single person says anything positive about the company (in my orbit). It’s always ā€œgreat products but dealing with them sucksā€

Annoyed still, but I'm fine now. It's been nearly two months since this happened so I've had time to come down.šŸ˜‚

I got tired of waiting to see what SPOON would offer. PWR is still the best option for my use case and it's not even close. The weight (4.1 lbs over stock), true OEM fitment (modifying the car to make it fit is a non-starter), quality, and performance win out for me.

It’s why I wanted the intercooler. Weight and the fitment being 1:1

I’ll definitely be avoiding them in the future tho. For sure.
