Try @VPMotors or @Drew30101. If they still have their cars and driving habits didn't change they should be well over 40k miles. I recall they were leading the charge for mileage some time ago.
Thanks for remembering, I haven't been active on the forum for a while but that's some Superman-like memory there haha.

My driving habits did in fact change. I realized I was daily driving the Type R too much while my CR-V (whose purpose was to be the daily driver) stayed in the garage more than often, which caused it's battery to die twice lol. So now, I try to drive the CR-V too, so I "only" have 41k miles on the FL5.

To the OP:
Based on my experience, I would wholeheartedly recommend daily driving the car as long as you know that the running costs are slightly higher than a regular Japanese car: premium fuel, faster wearing tires (about 30-35k miles), and faster wearing rear pads (12-15k miles) ESPECIALLY when taking corners fast; I would reserve the enthusiastic corner taking for a good weekend drive to make the wear worth it.

Not to mention that the roads where you live play a big factor in making the difference between it being a daily driver or a weekend car: my car has been on two cross country road trips and dozens of inter-state road trips at this point, and I wouldn't dare to take it out in some of the states with absolutely terrible roads. I have had three punctures on three different occasions and been stranded during two of them in the middle of nowhere at nighttime (thank heavens for good samaritans).

My recommendation is to be fully aware of the running costs (they're not German car level high, but not your regular Civic low too), check the roads of your daily commute for nasty potholes (you don't notice them when driving a regular car, but they do make themselves known in a Type R), and see if the area is low on crime. Been seeing a lot of FL5s being stolen recently, so better to be safe than sorry!

P.S. : Get tire insurance if you haven't already. Spent $700 on mine, saved $1500 so far.

Sounds like you’ve visited the wonderful state of Massachusetts! Many of the roads around here are so terrible that it makes me want to relocate. I always know when I’ve crossed into one of the bordering states because the pavement becomes much smoother. There are several roads near me that I used to enjoy, but they’ve become impassable in the FL5.

Thank you guys! I think I’m just going to daily it and enjoy it. Goal is 200k miles.

Selling it and getting a boring hybrid for an extra 10 mpg doesn’t sound fun either.

I have a diesel truck as the “beater” lol don’t need a 3rd vehicle lol

One thing I would suggest if you're going to daily drive the car that much is get the Acura Type S dampening module. I recently installed mine and for me transformed the driving experience. The module is about $200. Easy to do. There's a youtube video that guides you through the install without having to remove the rear seat. Just need a 10 mm DEEP socket.

Well then, you're good to go! With the ITS module I can drive the car all day and really enjoy it. Spirited, but also much more compliant even in Sport Plus compared to the Type R module.

Agreed. I like to keep mine in type r mode so it’s a lot better considering all the railroad tracks and construction they’re doing

Yes you guessed correct, but I've seen even worse roads. Try Arizona or Tennessee (the worst roads ever in Memphis, never seen crater sized potholes on highways before, enough to make your car a salvage title). Anything north of Massachusetts, ie. New Hampshire and Maine have beautiful roads, both in their construction and the scenery which surrounds them!

As long as you rotate them every 5k miles, you can get over 25k miles out a set of PS4S. I don't know anyone personally that has gotten more than 30k miles but I'm sure it can be done with conservative driving.

I can testify, this does make a big difference. And yep, 10mm DEEP socket highly recommended, else you'll be turning a 10 min job into an hour long one prying a wrench vertically into that gap like I had to haha.

Guilty as charged. Mine still had 5/32 inch tread left around 33k miles. As luck would have it, one of my tires got a nail stuck in it, another had a small leak, and another got a puncture by hitting a pothole too hard, so replaced all 4 but as per the dealer they still had a few thousand more miles left if not for the damage.

You're not alone brotha! Same here. As of last week, I'm in the same boat. I went from 28mi round trip to 90mi. The mileage doesnt bother me as much as fuel costs here in CA. The jump to CAN flex is in my foreseeable future. I've also looked into the vanpool at work. I'll have to weigh the pros and cons- Time lost vs. gas saved!!?

What’s the most miles you’ve seen or heard about on a Type R? FK8 or FL5?

I just got reassigned at work but have to give up my take home vehicle for it. So the commute is 50 miles each way,
100 miles a day
500 miles a week
2000 miles a month
24,000 miles a year

Kinda in the head space that if I love what I drive to and from work, and I love what I do at work, then go to a home I love… then who cares the cost.

Although I will go with harder tires probably lol

Anyone else rack up crazy miles on their type r?
I have 23000 on my 2024 FL5 , just driving around the county..I will put serious miles on it after September..trip to Colorado, Washington State, Minnesota, Upstate NY..then down to Fla. and back to WV..for starters.

Hello. My car is stock. I am currently averaging 23 mpg mixed driving. What bolt on and tune do you have?

I have owned mine for 16 months. Sitting at 29,000 miles. Will be on an 1800 mile road trip in couple weeks. Drive, drive and drive some more
