My car enthusiast friend has a Tesla, says the interior cabin is real nice and spartan. So are Lotuses. Sure the Teslas is fast off the line, then what?

That’s it. I’m gonna have my coffee and not turn this into a Tesla is not a real car and it sucks, bashing discussion.

I know my friend, just having some fun. Its all in good spirits.

Your FL5 concerns are basically spot on.

The FL5 handles exceptionally well, but low speed wheel spin is unavoidable, and you can't point the car with the throttle at all. IMHO, the best balance of traction and power is at OEM levels. Also, the motor sounds like a vacuum cleaner with the carpet brush roll spinning, and has a boring flat digital feeling to the torque curve.

Although I only owned my FL5 for ~650 miles, 100% of those miles were enthusiast miles. I pushed my FL5 on curvy backroads that dreams are made of, and never really fell in love like I wanted to. I knew pretty quickly that my heart was somewhere else.

Unrelated but does that mean you didn't follow the 600m break in? I'm slowly working my mileage up and have only womped on it once just short of the 500m mark and I definitely felt a bit of regret/worry after!

BMW M2 - Im a fan and I love it has a small but still a backseat
FL5 Type R - I have a test drive set up for this weekend really looking forward to it.
Toyota Supra (Mk5)- test drove my friends 2 weeks ago and it was amazing ! So much torque but a much bigger car.

I also was suggested that I should drive my s2k more and see how I felt. The first drive was amazing. I forgot how great the shifter was, straight butter. But now 2 days back into it feel like im in an old pair of shoes and know my way around. Not much thats new and exciting me. This weekend testing out a FL5 will be a big mental data point to me

I could care less if it was boring, ugly, spartan, tech filled. Its reliable transportation thats extremely cheap to maintain , free to commute in , fits my family

No CRV hybrid but an interesting turn of events... wife is pregnant with the second currently. So I know I'm going to be locked in the house next year doing a lot caretaking and not a lot of time to get out.

Thinking of selling the S2k and investing the money. Then picking up something in a year or so when I have more time. I seriously don't need the money for the second kid at all. Although the S has never given me any issues. I think it might be easier if I didn't have to be concerned about a car just sitting there not being used.

I tried to take the tune off to sell my hondata and I didn't go through with it it hurt when actually facing the reality of selling it.

someone let me know if I am just overreacting or this is part of growing up and I haven't come to terms with it yet.

*FWIW I bounced the idea off the wife. She didn't care what I did, it's the fun car and she can't even drive manual. Just do whatever makes me happy.

Congrats on welcoming a second kid soon. Just keep the S2000 as long as you keep having doubts about selling. Sounds like you’re in a good place financially and if you need a family hauler, just get one that fits the bill and let that S2000 sit until you wake up one day and decide, that’s the day to put it up for sale. It sounds like you don't need the money from selling and you don't know what you want to do. The S2k market is past its peak, and there's no incentive to sell now.

Don't just do something to do it -- be patient!

Enjoy your FL5 test drive. Enjoy a couple more drives in the S2k this year while the weather stays nice. Enjoy test driving other cars.

When you definitively know what you want to do, do that. Until then, do nothing.

As an owner of both, keep the S2k. The FL5 is a great every day car, but lacks the soul of the S2k. I picked mine up when my daughter was 3. Six years later its still the car she wants us to take every time I ask.

The FL5 disappoints with modern car stuff like lack of engine sound, rev hang, etc.
