Might have been covered, but not seeing it. Does the same Ai HSB524 speaker adaptors fit the rears as well? Ordered the ES-5 and contemplating just reusing the stock like @Yorkman1

I put the 5.25s in the rear doors and kept the stock tweeters. They are 4 ohm in the rear doors iirc. Fit them into the factory housing. Clean and easy

Finished up rears and sub today. Much improved and will keep me from messing with amps etc for now.

I drafted and printed an adapter ring for the sub. Idk if it's totally necessary but here's the file for people to print.

Just wanted to shout out to our boy here for making a nice ring to get that sub a little more volume. I adapted to an aftermarket subwoofer without any issues

Thank you again Von

Does that fill make a difference? I've seen people for and against it.

Seems good. I have a recoil sub and it’s seems to like the volume. The stuffing helps take away any reverb. I’m not against it at all Have only had it in about 5 min so far ?

Ah I see, ya I got a recoil after I saw yours but I'm putting a type S in and gonna amp it and see how it goes...

Hell yeah. Let us know. I like mine. It does move air. You can feel it through the grating when it hits. I’m also “deaf” from years of military BS so I blast my music ?

I'd be curious to compare the Recoil to an amped, quality, driver as the box is so small I wonder how much headroom is available. I'm sure someone who is more into this can run the #s through a calculator...

My impression of the Recoil is that it's good bang for the buck if you like bass, it is a noticeable improvement over my prior 2ohm driver or stock.

I thought its excellent for swapping with stock could have just kept it and amped that but I'm sending the car for a full system replacement tomorrow so will see how it ends up... ?

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread so far - great info here! I've ordered a set of ES-6.2's and DRT-25s for my front doors and a-pillar tweeters. I should have everything coming from Amazon for the front door speaker install using the Amazon links @Icehawk posted.

Not sure if it's been covered here but does anyone have a link for a wiring harness and some mounting photos of retrofiting the DRT-25s or similar into the a-pillar tweeter location? Thanks.

Edit:
Links to what are hopefully the correct connectors are here and some installation notes here.
I've put an order in for these and will try to get some photos when I install my tweeters.

Phase 1 upgrade: Swap OEM Bose sub to aftermarket kicker 8 in shallow mount 2ohm DVC that I already had from a previous car.

Results: not enough juice to power 2 ohm DVC 8 in Kicker wired to 1 ohm. Waiting on amp and loc to arrive to complete my goal.

Phase 2 will be complete in the next week or so.

Also, anyone have experience with running the power wire through firewall in FK8 or fl5? The one I'm going to use is below.

did we determine if we need to use a shallow sub on fl5's? Shallow seems to really limited what you can get.

About 4” depth.
did we ever find anyone that can create a sub ring for additional depth? or the file to create one ourselves? Or are you saying really not needed?
