Has anyone tried Redline transmission fluid in this car ? If so which did you use and how was it.
Redline tranny fluid user here, you should use Redline MTL(OE equivalent) if your car is stock or Redline MT-90 if your car is modified beyond basic bolt ons.

I have Redline MT-90 in my car and the improvement in shift quality was noticed almost immediately. The 1-2 shift instantly became less notchy in a good way and the shifts felt more slick.

I kind of want to try both Redline MTL and ACDelco Synchromesh 10-4014.

They're a bit thicker than Honda MTF, but not by a ton.

Honda MTF (Approximately 70W but not listed as such)
7.265 cSt @ 100°C
30.70 cSt @ 40°C

Redline MTL (75W-80 GL-4)
10.4 cSt @ 100°C
50.8 cSt @ 40°C

ACDelco Synchromesh 10-4014 (no weight specified, but close to 75W-80)
10.05 cSt @ 100°C
50 cSt @ 40°C

I posted a whole laundry list of options with viscosities here: https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threads/fl5-transmission-fluid-recommendation.53729/page-3#post-976699
Im using Redline MTL and am happy with it. A little smoother when the fluid is up to temp. I will continue to use it moving forward.

Do you get a real winter where you're at?

I've got a set of winter tires and wheels for the car and I plan to drive occasionally throughout the winter. One of the things I worry about is extreme cold making the gearbox feel like trying to stir cookie dough.

We do get a decent winter here. However, the Type R is parked for the winter as soon as salt/brine is on the ground. Havent driven it below 8 degrees (46 Fahrenheit).

Oh man, glad to see im not the only one who has had this issue!
Recently installed a motor mount as pictured and i havnt ground 2nd gear since. Feels as if the motor is now attached to the car and not connected via a rubber band like it did with the OEM mount. Possibly the torque under load then shifting when pushing the clutch is responsible for missed syncro due to the weight/momentum transfer in the drivetrain? Anyway, for me it seems to be fixed without changing anything else. Very happy!!
