Like full on smoke under the hood kind of overheat?
actually, i didn't really see much smoke except they had the hood open for a while, could have had been smoking earlier, not sure.

I learned Honda did not cover it and wanted $14k to do the work

Just a side update. My PWR track spec intercooler has arrived. I plan to install it this weekend. Instead of straight coolant I'll be running a bottle of water wetter, 1 gallon of distilled water, and the remainder will be topped off with Honda coolant.

Other necessary items were ordered as well: New Paragon R7 front pads w/ titanium shims and a new set of Nitto NT01 tires.

I've also placed an order for the Radium coolant tank, but I don't think it'll arrive in time for my next track event. What I like about the Radium product is the fact that you can see the coolant level much easier than the stock tank. Even a high powered flash light has trouble exposing the coolant level inside.
Whats the point of using the DI water + coolant mix?

It offers a higher thermal capacity. Factory coolant is typically a 50/50 mix water to glycol. This will get me closer to a 70/30 mix water to glycol.

That's a lot of money. Sounds like they were wanting to replace the whole engine! Seems like it would be more cost effective to send it to 4piston for a performance overhaul.

Try to run as much water as possible its better than coolant at keeping heat at bay. As for the gauges. No need to drill holes, do you have access to a 3d printer or know somebody who does?

I've considered grabbing a gauge, but I really don't want to drill holes in my dash for gauge pods. I've done some searching around, but to no avail for a gauge pod that doesn't require modification of factory components. Have you seen any?
P3 will bring a solution to market in the next 30-60 days or so. If you're unfamiliar with P3, they manufacture custom, integrated gauge solutions. In the interest of full disclosure, I have no firsthand experience with their products; however, I would investigate this further if I needed a gauge for this car. Anyhow, the FL5 gauge that will be available soon will be located in the defrost vent to the left of the steering wheel (see picture). My understanding is it will not take up all of the vent space. Also, here's the link to the gauge solution they have available for the 10th-generation Civic.

I don't. Looks like Defi may have an adhesive solution. I could tape it right in front of the steering wheel. It's only available in Celsius, so I'd have to get used to that.

Cheap workaround could be to use a small motorcycle oil temp flat display. Just to monitor and see how far the honda logr temp display is compared to an actual sensor reading. Easy to mount with double sided tape/velcro.

Also any gauge could be mounted with double sided tape as long as you have a good surface to stick it to.

I just watched Dream Auto's hot lap at the Nurburgring with Misha. They were literally 2 deg C away from overheating. They hit 123 and I hit the equivalent of 125. These were coolant temps.

Yeah without an actual gauge we won’t ever know if its accurate. Did the oil sandwich plate bring any npt ports for gauges?

Yep. It's got em'!
Then super simple plug and play. If you want a fancy gauge defi is great I love their products but they no longer offer imperial just metric. The new greddy ones look slick too. But it you just want something simple and easier to mount just buy a Motorcycle flat temp gauge and it should work for what you want.
