Hey guys!

New to the 11th gen Forums, but not new to Honda's or the 10th/11th gen platform. I thought I would make a short introduction and also post about our new FL5 Tuning progress so far. We have just become a vendor for the forum as well.

I Have personally owned 2 Fk8's, Two 10th gen Civic Si's, and I currently have a 2024 CTR and a 2018 Honda Civic Sport 1.5 Hatchback. The Sport Hatchback is actually my wife's project Time Attack car that she plans to compete with in the Gridlife Touring ClubTR class. Although not related to this platform, I currently race an 8th Gen K24 Swapped Civic Si Coupe in the Gridlife Touring Cup series ( for anyone who follows GLTC). Our First FK8 that we bought back in 2017 at one point was one of the fastest Time Attack CTR's in the country at that point. We actually plan to run our FL5 in the Gridlife Street class next year if all goes to plan!

We have been tuning using Cobb software and the Cobb Accessport for nearly 10 years now for customers, and longer than that for my own personal cars. While I do tune a lot of Honda's, our biggest market is the Ford Focus ST, Focus RS, and Fiesta ST. We have tuned nearly 10,000 of these cars since 2015 using Cobb software with great results. There is a big chance that we have tuned cars on this forum already for people who have had an ST or RS before haha.

We purchased our 2024 CTR back earlier this year with hopes to support and tune the car using Cobb software once it was released. Support has been out just over a month now and we have been VERY happy with FL5 support so far.

On top of all of the features that Cobb already advertised such as Launch Control, Flat foot shifting, and Burnout mode. We have already figured out many other things such as:

-Ethanol tuning ( true flex fuel isnt available yet, but will be eventually)
-Boost by gear
-Adjustable Power levels, boost levels, and throttle response per drive mode
-eliminate rev hang
- much much more!

Another big thing that I'm sure a lot of people have questioned would be compatibility with upgraded Pumps and injectors. I am happy to say that we have already been working with XDI, and we have an XDI Evo Pump and 1400cc Injectors in our FL5 right now, and everything is working great.

For just a little timeline on our car so far, as far as tuning is concerned. I have attached a few dyno charts below as well.

-We at first did a few baseline runs. The car made 292whp with no modifications other than a PRL drop in air filter.

-On the same day, we installed a Cobb Accessport, and right off the bat made 321whp with the Cobb Off the shelf Stage 1 93 octane tune

-Also on the same day, we put in a good bit of time on the dyno custom tuning the car. We got the car up to 348whp safely on a VERY hot day with ambient temps up near the 100 degree mark with high humidity. The car made over 350whp on a few pulls, but the 348whp run was the best all around pull.

- Fast forward a couple of weeks and we decided to fill the car up on E30 and put it back on the dyno. However, because i didnt want to deal with the crazy high Manifold air temps, we went ahead and installed a PRL front mount intercooler. On that day with custom tuning, we safely brought the car up to a respectable 391whp. These are gains of just at 100whp over a stock car, with less than $2000 in modifications, and while still keeping things safe.

This brings me to my next point, the cost of tuning the car on Cobb.

We currently are offering custom tuning with Accessport packages for just at $900. $900 gets you a whole lot for your money. Our tuning prices may increase eventually, but we dont plan to any time soon.

This Price includes the Cobb Accessport, The Jailbreak/unlock, next day air shipping on your ECU while being jailbroken, and our custom tuning. We do have an in-house dyno at our shop here in Georgia, so dyno tuning is an option as well for just a little higher cost.

While we also offer custom tuning Via Hondata, and we are a Hondata Dealer/Tuner, I do think the Accessport has a few advantages right now. Primarily those being Price, the jailbreak process, the Accessport itself is a very nice device that can do a lot of things, and ease of tuning remotely. Datalogging for custom remote/ email tuning is very simple with the AP. Its just the press of a button. No need to ever have a laptop in the car.

If you are interested in an Accessport and/or custom tuning for your FL5, DE5, or Even your FK8 please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. You can PM me, or you can send me an email at [email protected]. You can check out our website and tuning/ AP prices at the link below as well.

Thanks!

I figured I'd jump in here and share my experience as I think I'm one of the first customers Brian has worked with on this platform with Cobb. I've known Brian for several years through Optima Ultimate Street Car competition (in completely different cars), and I am excited to work with him on my FL5!

As Brian mentioned the Cobb unlock was super simple. I sent mine out last Tuesday after Labor Day, and received it back ready to go on Thursday (same day turnaround from Cobb!). Brian reviewed my initial stage 0 logs and we're working through the custom tuning now. I just received version 2 of the custom 93 tune yesterday which I still need to try, but even Brian's first file was a huge increase in performance and I'm excited to fine tune it.

For me, this year I'll have the car setup for SCCA Sport 3 TT, with a full stock exhaust / intercooler (stock intercooler due to Sport class rules), so we are keeping mild boost settings and a conservative 93 tune (coupled with lowering springs, rear anti roll bar, radiator/oil cooler/expansion tank, and 18x11s/285s), but ultimately next year I intend to go a little further with a light Gridlife Street class build.

I can't wait to see what this will do on track!

Hey guys,

What results can we expect with:
PRL IC
PRL HVI
PRL turbo inlet
Cat-back
TSP DP or RV6 DP
93 tune

Not sure if you know yet but figured I would ask ?

I have the HEL oil cooler, PWR track spec radiator, and the Radium Engineering expansion tank. I just put the oil cooler on last weekend I'll probably do the radiator / expansion tank this weekend.

Obviously I don't have any experience with them yet on track but I'm hoping they'll let me get a few laps in at speed before heat soak.

Results should be similar to what you would see being tuned on Hondata. Probably in the 370-380whp range on this setup with 93 octane. With ethanol a little more.

I’m also another customer of JST Performance!

Mailed my ECU out last Thursday, it arrived to Cobb on Friday, and Cobb sent it out immediately and it delivered yesterday (Saturday). I quickly reinstalled my ECU and the AP. Flashed to Stage 0 for datalogging and will report my feedback and experience once that process and the custom tune are complete.

Mods that have impact: PRL Intake, PRL Intercooler, PRL Inlet, AWE Track Exhaust w/ Front Pipe. Stock DP at the moment.

Went with a 91 tune as I have no plans on flex fuel or a mix later on.

Received my first tune from Brian today and I hurried home to try it out. The car definitely feels stronger and faster. Butt dyno definitely feels it. Currently datalogging and sending it to him so we can get my car dialed in. I’m pleased with the results!

Been very busy with FL5 development lately! However, losing power and internet at our shop for nearly 2 weeks due to Hurricane Helene kind of slowed us down.

We have been working quite a bit since Saturday when we had power restored.

Current power mods are as follows:

-Cobb Accessport V3 with our JST Custom tuning
-PRL Motorsports "stage 1" intake/ drop in filter
-PRL motorsports Front Mount Intercooler
-RV6 Performance downpipe
-XDI Evo High pressure fuel pump and 1400cc injectors

The XDI kit has been on the car for nearly a month now and ive already tuned and tested the car on various ethanol blends such as E30,E40,E50, and full E85.

The car hasnt been on the dyno in a little bit, so i spent all day yesterday doing testing on 93 octane and an E40 Ethanol blend. I would have ran slightly more Ethanol in the blend, but I only had enough Ethanol around the shop to make an E40 blend.

I tuned the car on 93 octane as if it had a stock fuel system. i did not increase boost levels any higher than i would have if the car had a stock fuel pump and injectors, so these 93 octane results should be very close to a stock fuel system car. The car made 372 Wheel horsepower on 93 octane.

Unlike the 93 octane tune, I did turn the boost on the E40 blend higher than i would on the stock fuel system. Max power was 402 wheel horsepower on an E40 blend. The car actually made a little more than that, but I backed it down slightly to keep things a little safer.

Very very happy with the results so far and I will continue to push what the car and the Cobb Accessport and software will do. A turbo upgrade will likely happen fairly soon!

If you are interested in a Cobb Accessport and/or Custom tuning for your FL5 please feel free to send us a PM or an email at [email protected]

Thanks for sharing and I appreciate the work you're doing with the Cobb AP. How are you caring for the CEL that is part and parcel of running a catless dp? Are you simply clearing it with the AP every time it pops or do you have a more permenant solution?

Our RV6 downpipe came with a defouler, which I did install. Ive driven the car probably 300-400 miles so far and no check engine light. Fingers crossed it doesnt show up haha.
