I think strut bar requires different torque.
And also it has bolts that connects the bar to the base.

Sometimes, yes, depending on the strut bar. Just telling you what I've seen on a lot of different strut bars.

Guess you'll just have to decide what you want to torque it to then. PRL has factory specs for the base and 17 lb ft for the bar to the base bracket , 27Won has 53-55 lb ft for the strut damper nut. SiriMoto has 45 lb ft for the base and then 27 lb ft for the bar to the base.

Could also try messaging J's Racing, they're pretty active on their Instagram.

I sent them a message on Instagram, they replied:
44nm is the recommended spec (32-33 lbs-ft) - for both strut-to-body and bar-to-bracket.

That doesn't sound right.

Post a picture of it installed.

I got a response from J's Racing Japan:
Nut to strut tower torque - 69nm
Allen bolt / hex nut - 35nm

I'll install this weekend and share a picture.

Looks good! Now the real question is, do you feel a difference at all? I see a lot of companies make strut bars and I like them, but for some reason Spoon still does not run one and they are heavily dedicated on the track.

It is a fair question and it was discussed in many forums. I don’t track the car. I have many other mods on the car. I can’t tell how much it adds. Some people said it takes 9 to 9.5.
I like the looks mainly, it’s not very expensive and it does something positive - so, a good mod for me!

J’s and Cusco strut bar was something I was considering, but I just ended up ordering a Spoon rear sway bar and that’s the only suspension mod my car will have, but like always….Spoon likes to drop and announce products to the public, but never deliver shit on time. I’ve had it on order since May.

Did you order the J’s strut bar from Black Hawk?

Yes, from Black Hawk. They initially told me it can take up to 4 months to be built by J’s and shipped. But it arrived after 3 weeks :dunno:

I doubt any strut bar will do much on the FL5. You see the strut towers are literally welded to the firewall, which is the strongest structural brace you can have. I can see how a strut bar can help if the strut towers are further away from the firewall. The only benefit that I can see is the mounting bracket providing additional reinforcement to the strut towers themselves to prevent "mushrooming" effect.

The thing I don't like about this J's Racing bar is that it's a hinged design, which means that any vertical motion (if any) in the strut towers will pivot on those hinges, which negate any benefit of having a bar. The 2nd thing I don't like about any strut bar on the FL5 is that you have to remove it every time you need to remove the battery (for replacement or work in that area). But if you like it for the "bling", then I won't blame you for adding one. Some bars are really nice and has tempted me to add one too.
