On the type s. It uses the microphones to do this active noise cancellation when in comfort. It really does insulate U from sound very very well. Almost freaky. In sport and sport plus it’s piping in the actual engine and exhaust sounds. It’s not a track either because when I changed my exhaust the piped in audio definitely changed too. Same with the intake. It isn’t offensive at all. I really like it. The type r has some crazy fake engine track playing. It sounds like no engine I’ve ever heard in my life. Almost synthetic and fake.

on the type s. The mix seems to be 25% engine sound and 75% exhaust sound. On the type r I’m not sure if it’s pumping in the same sounds plus that artificial track because the artificial sounds are just super dominant. I wonder if it’s like this on the si too?
I’m pretty positive the Type R’s module is 100% fake sounds and there’s no microphone involved. I think they had to do this because of strict noise regulations in Japan and other countries. This also explains why Type Rs has 2 resonators. All of this is in contrast to the ITS, which is only made for NA and subsequently sounds better and louder all around.

I owned a Type-S for about 10 months and thought it sounded awful. Lots of unnatural droning, wheezing, and mooing noises, and it sounded like an appliance at times. I have no idea how much of that was coming from the engine and how much was synthetic or processed noise. But I did detect some sound that was drifting in and out of phase with throttle inputs, so at least some of that had to be fake or heavily processed and subject to a time delay.

I can't say I hear anything particularly good/bad in the Type-R (I have my individual settings in sport mode across the board, except for the gauge cluster which is set to R). I don't find it offensively artificial like I did with the Type-S, but it's also not very inspiring.

These modern DI turbo engines inherently do not sound good, so that is probably why they are fiddling with this so much. It's a pity. I've got older sports cars with real engine/exhaust noise, and it's such a wonderful experience driving them.

on my Si, if you stab the throttle real fast at lower RPMS, it sounds like a bunch of rocks in a dryer. I think they want it sound raspy like old school VTEC but it sounds bad

does the synthetic noise go away if you select individual mode with Sport throttle? Honestly, I think the sport mode throttle is way too sensitive anyways. I always end up revving too high when taking off after switching to Sport. I do like the heavier steering though.

It’s a delay. U can barely make it out but when it happens you’re like, aha! The delay is like a tenth of a sec but does not always have that lag. Majority of the time seems 1 to 1
