I've been looking into many different possible builds for my 2023 Si. I don't plan on doing anything in the near future in terms of messing with engine swaps, or built engines. Spending this time to educate myself. I did a ton of research on the possibilities of the K20C1 Swap, as well as the "Cheaper" route with the K20C4 accord engine. Now, I'm focusing my research on straight up having a fully built L15B7.
For some context, I don't plan to race this car on the track. My main goal is to take it to car meets, and zipping around back roads, a few pulls here and there. Won't be my daily anymore by this point. ANYWAYS, I'm seeing fully built blocks for this engine ranging between $4k-$5k. I guess my question is for someone who isn't going to beat the car to death, how will my reliability fair if I go this route with Saenz or JE internals, upgraded cooling, radiator, fuel pump, on pump gas no E85, exhaust upgrades, bigger turbo and whatever other components need upgrading, obviously the transmission, not sure if need to upgrade the entire thing including gears or just flywheel and clutch for my specific build. I'm not trying to get a million horsepower. Id be happy if I could reach +400, using only quality parts.
Is this a viable route for me to take? is +400 too much even with everything upgraded including internals, and everything around it to support that? my main worry is the Block as there is so many mixed reviews about reliability, but I feel that some people just don't know how to take care of their cars or drive them properly and complain when things don't go as planned...

iirc, MAPerformance's 10th gen Si drag car was making about 500hp on stock internals out of its L15B7 before it blew (their YouTube channel has a series on it).

So with aftermarket internals and gears (and the other supporting mods you mentioned), I don't imagine you'd have an issue staying reliable at 400hp.

Add on to this, TSP sell the shortblock also where you can send in your "core"
This is more like it! I would try to see how far I can go on stock internals as mentioned above based off another build, but if I could hypothetically send my block and have it worked on by TSP, add upgraded internals, not sure if they would need to bore out the sleeves or not by the time i even attempted this build. I would feel a lot more comfortable cruising at +400hp with everything upgraded internally and supporting mods rather than gamble more or less on stock parts. Again i would add something similar to the PRL turbo or the 27won turbo as an upgrade, I'm not trying to break world records, I just want a fun car, "Reliable", using quality parts.

Please keep in mind that the L15B7 engine is for the previous generation Civic and is not the same as what you'd find inside your 11th gen Civic Si. We are in the early stages of working on an 11th gen specific block but are currently stuck waiting on parts from some of our suppliers.

Yes, I was actually looking for more information on this. I understand that the 11th gen Si has Vtec, which the 10th gen does not. Not sure how much that matters, but I didn't know that the blocks were different. Is the transmission the same? I'm assuming for a build like this I would definitely need some sort of gear set, probably use the RV6 Retro flywheel from the FK8, and aftermarket clutch, or something along these lines?

I do believe the transmissions are the same. We recommend the same clutch kit combo for both the 10th and 11th gen 1.5T:

https://www.twostepperformance.com/...-2016-honda-civic-1-5t?variant=39968751386756

Emphasis on the Stage 0 clutch kit. You don't need more than that and Stage 1/2 can cause shift lockout issues.

Appreciate this information a ton, I will stay tuned to see when you guys come out with builds for the 11th Gen Si! Hopefully by the time I'm ready to start my project!
