The Auto Idle Stop feature on my 2022 Civic regularly says "System is warming up or charging" whenever I came to a stop. My battery reads 14.4V when the engine is on and 12.1V with the engine off, so it shouldn't be a bad battery. There are no other "obvious" reasons as outlined in the manual that would prevent it from working. Research online suggests to disconnect the battery for 10-20 seconds so that all the electronics/ECUs can reset. When I do this, Auto Idle Stop starts working, but only for about 2 days. After a couple of days, it stops working again and requires another battery disconnect to get it functional again.

Thoughts? Any TSBs to address this issue, perhaps?

Unfortunately, even if a battery is showing it has good voltage it doesn't always mean its working correctly. I would at least try get the battery checked by Honda, it should be covered under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty if you're within the period. If you are still within the warranty, might as well have Honda check the idle stop system as well.

Two related questions:
1. Is the engine fully warmed up? If you’re only doing short trips, Auto Idle Stop won’t engage. I’m stating this from experience.
2. What is the ambient temperature when you’re driving? If it’s less than 70°F, it may take a while for it to kick in.
Some things to consider.

Thanks for the nudge, latole. Finally got to the dealer about 2 weeks ago. Chilly was right, it turned out to be the battery.

Thank's for the come back . It is good to know battery is often the culprit..

FYI a fully charged 12 volt lead acid car battery should read about 12.6v. A reading of 12.1v when the car is off indicates the battery is only around 50% charge. A reading of 14.4v when the car is running indicates the alternator is charging.

I want to share this trick to fix the auto idle stop problems many people have:
https://www.odyclub.com/threads/auto-idle-stop-potential-fix-procedure.337977/
This fix probably works for all Hondas. I have a 2026 Honda Civic Si and was frustrated that the "auto idle stop" wouldn't work after I had used a trickle charger on my battery. I took the steps without first warming up the car---I just came out in the morning and opened the hood, started the car and saw the "hood open" message, turned the car off, closed the hood, then got back in and started the car up again. It worked like a charm!
